See, you'll never convince me that one is not needed. I know I'll never convince you of the inverse. It must be all the exhaust fumes you've been sucking on all these years.

Anyways, those platform brackets are designed to swing DOWN. What they need to do is swing UP. That's the only way they would be truly effective. You're only going to gain a few inches by swinging it down because the taps plate is there. I can see why they are designed to swing down. It's much easier to manufacture them that way. The lip over the platform would necessitate a much more complex design in order to have the hinge be nearly two inches past the lip on transom in order to clear it on an up swing. The thought is there, its just not executed right IMO.

Upon further review of my statement, I was wrong. It wouldn't be that hard to make it swing up. Shorter bracket, stand-off block, flip mechanism upside down with a couple minor revisions to the design.

Maybe the FAE install should be revamped. Relying on the swim platform as the means to mount it makes it easy for some folks to mount but maybe it should be a new pipe that replaces the one that runs through the transom. I see why they do it the way they do, so it doesn't make any holes in the hull and an easier install for non-mechanical folks but there are probably other methods to get it to work.

You can actually run the supports to the transom instead of the platform. Most just do the platform mount to avoid drilling holes in the boat.

Now that I think and look a little closer, are the new brackets taller and moved closer to the centerline of the boat? I see this as advantageous on two fronts.

            1) It would better suit bringing the outside edges of the platform in, keeping it out of the surfwake, which I think completely negates the lip issue.

            2) As long as the brakets are as tall as the taps plate is deep, it will give enough swing to end up vertical.

This still doesn't do much for the FAE owner but, its a nice touch for Timmys of the world.

I don't think they moved the brackets, they just made them look nicer.

Does anyone know if the swim platform brackets will work on a 2011 RZR? Sick of the 2 allen screws falling out!

I can tell you from personal experience there is no comparison between CAT and non-CAT exhaust. My 2007 would almost knock you out if you tried to put your wakeboard on while it was running. My 2011 i don't even notice it running. It's also much quieter.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

                      I don't see why they wouldn't.

The vent you have is the same one that has been on there since '07.
