My boat has a rough idle (makes boat shake at idle) and is hard to start but under power it is perfect. I checked the firing order it is correct, new carb was installed and did not correct the problem. Anyone have any suggestions and can I make this motor FI and at what cost?

Look for a vacuum leak that is only effecting one cylinder. Rough idle and then smooths out as engine speed increases sounds like low compression.

Youre the first Ive seen who picked the carb model over the FI model. Please add a sea strainer, if you havent already, or you may end up rebuilding or buying a new engine. The alarms on this MP setup do NOT go off quickly enough to prevent catesrphic engine failure, as I found out at 20.9 hours. My tranny cooler plugged and the engine went hot and cratered just as the alrm went off.
I bought the 1" Sherwood strainer and it works perfect. It prevents anything from getting stuck in the tranny cooler and is very easy to clean.So this monkey walks into a bar...Comment

I found that there are advantages to teh carb boat as well. All the threads about issues with electronics and failures can be ignored by us. It's a very simple carbed boat with no electronics (except gauges and distributor).
