    Sea Strainer Install

    I am having extreme difficulty getting the 1 1/4" intake hose to stretch over the supplied barbs.
    Any guidance to get these to assemble.

    Please help. We leave for Watt's Bar very soon.

    Use a little silicone to lube things up. The dry rubber has a ton of friction. Ok, thats enough 8th grade health class

    seriously, apply some lube and use a heat gun to soften the hose.

      thanks Mike. I was using axle grease and it helped some.
      Hadn't tried the heat gun. I am trying to fit this in on the starboard side of the V-Drive and cant get the barb into the lake end of the intake hose.

        It's a PITA install.. but worth every hour it takes to get it in right. Mine filled up last trip and saved my boat from overheating.

          I've started using KY Jelly for hoses and fittings. It's water soluble so it will rinse away after the fittings are together. Plus, I get to tell people that I actually have come up with a second use for it. {grin}

                Throw the end of the hoses in really hot water for several minutes.

                  I did some install at lunch with the same material and I used dishwashing liquid. Worked well also.
