    Ballast bag(s) - 20v

So I am wanting to add some ballast to my 08' 20v for wake surfing in the starboard locker cause I ride goofy. I just measured the starboard locker, and it's roughly 43-45 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 24 inches tall.

Wanted to see what other 20v owners have added. Thanks in advance!

Right now I use two 400# fly high sacs but I think a single 750# would be the best way to go. The second 400 doesn't full all the way. Makes a great wave.

The best value would be the Fly High W707 750# sac. 50x20x20

Even though I only measure out to about 45inches in length I can get away with this one that is 50 inches? Just asking.... This is new to me.

I know this say it's for a MC, but it's dimensions are real close to what I measured. Fly High Pro X Mastercraft X-Star Rear Sac. Is the extra $100 really worth it, or will the W707 work just as well?

Thanks for helping to educate me on this.

The W714 MC sac is rated at 544# and retails for $189.99 ea. where as the W707 is rated at 750# and retails for $149.99. So looking at $$$ V's Lb, the W707 is a better value.

I would go with the 750's. You can always fill it less but hard to put 750 in 544. I have a '05 22v with maybe a slightly bigger locker and I have the jumbo 1100 lbs. It fills to about 800 on average. Much easier to fill it then use two 400's. Really no "wall" issues. Just "burp" the bag as you fill it and you should be fine. All the weight tends to rest on the outer walls of the locker.

            Good Luck.

Thanks Guys! You have helped a lot!!
I am going to get the 750# bag, and an external pump. That way I an move it to the port side locker if I have a regular footed person on the boat.

Here is a suggestion. I know nothing of your situation so forgive me if I over step. But something to think about is how you much time you will spend transferring the bag from one side to the other. Maybe you are sure you won't have many people riding on the oppisite side as you ride but then again maybe you will. If you think that might happen, then possibly think about this. How long does it take to fill the bag you end up getting? Then you surf and then decide you want to move the bag to the other side. You then have to empty the bag (how long this will take) the move the bag, no big deal, then re-fill the bag same amount of time it took on the other side. This maybe just fine and by all means it certainly could be. BUT, if you had another bag on the other side, you simply empty one bag into the other bag therefore cutting your time down in half. While there are things to do while you empty, move and refill, one bag, it WILL become a PITA at some point and then I believe you might be wishing you had a second bag so that you could save some time.

I have one jumbo in each rear locker. When it comes time to switch sides, I just pump from one bag to the other.

I know there is cost involved and that is where I am NOT trying to tell you how to do it, just kind of been there, done that and now I have two.

Heck go with one and it will probably work out great and you can always add another later if needed but on the other hand you might get a better deal ordering a pair instead of one at a time.

                Just a though, Happy Surfing!!!

Embo, I am the only goofy rider. Everyone else is just doing it wrong. HAHA!

I am not sure what I am going to do just yet. Where can I get a deal on a pair versus just ordering one?

I would start with Chpthil. Talk to him about what kind of deal he might be able to swing. I don't know if there is one but if there is he certainly seems to be the guy to be able to get it. I have purchased a pair of jumbos and a pair of 400s + pump from him and he has met any deal I was able to find online. Plus, he is on this forum all the time and helps out a lot so supporting him would be a good thing IMO.

Maybe there isn't a "deal" on a pair of the 750s. Maybe just get one and go with it. To be honest, when I am filling sacs, the crew is usually getting some refreshments, and putting some fuel in their system so we can surf our butts off for another hour or two before stopping. Works out pretty good. It's turns out to be a good time to take a small break from the activities. By the time the sacs are moved and filled again, everyone is ready to hit it.

Can't wait to hear how your wake is and how much fun you and your crew are having when you get the sac!!

P.S. I ride on the right side as well. And I am trying to learn to ride on both sides so when we are set up for surfing, no matter what side it is, I can ride it. Can we say "surf whore". (did I just say that).

                    Have fun!

You are going to think this is odd, but we invite people all the time to come out with us on this boat and our old one. We get so many excuses and people that flake at the last minute. This is why I was only really considering one bag, but after discussing it with the wife she wants to just go ahead and get two so that we don't have to mess with another one later.

Have put an FAE on that boat yet?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

No, not yet. It's on my list of things to get. I know... I know. I will need to get one if I am surfing behind the boat. It's going to be an off season purchase.

So long as you know. If you need a demo, I'd be happy to give you ride when my boat runs again.
