Fuel Gauge Only Reads FULL

I have a 2001 21v Wakeboard Edition and the fuel gauge jumps to Full when i power up the boat.

I have pulled the sender and it appears to be working fine, wiring appears fine. Dealer cant diagnose it after taking it in several times.

Could it be the gauge ??

Occationally, the tach also does not seem to read correctly, read way to many RPM.

I have checked the grounds and all seems well, but there is a pretty extensive harness behind the dash

Ideas?

rob i had the same problem, it was the sending unit in my boat, if yours is the resistance type sending unit its probably the same problem, this problem was somewhat common a few years back, a new sending unit was 135 dollars, several people including my self went with a traditional toilet boal style float system which is only 25 dollars, as the boat is moving the fuel gauge will move around a little, but at least this sending unit is reliable, i purchased mine through west marine, but you can get them just about any where.
