PLEASE HELP WE ARE TRYING TO GET THE BOAT GOING FOR MY DAUGHTERS BDAY

OK I WENT OUT TODAY TO TEST OUT A NEW ALTINATOR EVERYTHING WAS FINE I SWITCH MY PPASS TO RPM BASED AND ABOUT 4 MIN DOWN LAKE THE MOTOR STARTED POPING AND BACKFIREING THROUGH THE INTAKE.
I CHECKED TO SEE IF I HAD FUEL AT THE TEST VALUE ON THE FUEL RAIL HAD GAS SHOOT OUT BUT WITH AIR ALL SO. IM THINKING MABY CRANK SENSOR ? THIS IS A 2005 22V WITH A NEW MARINE POWER 340 HR GM MOTOR. I HAVE NOT CHECKED THINGS LIKE CAP AND ROTOR YET BECOUSE THE BOAT WAS RUNNING FINE TILL I SWITCHED THE PERFRECT PASS FROM SPEED THE RPM BASED. WHEN YOU CRANK THE MOTOR IT ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO RUN BUT JUST WONT ALSO WONDERING ABOUT KNOCK SENSOR PLEASE HELP IF U WANT YOU CAN CALL ME

Backfiring through the intake is almost always ignition/timing related. Sounds like the PP may have been hooked up incorrectly to the ignition module and cooked it. Or the module just decided to take a dump on its own.

    Good luck!

How much fuel is in the boat? Dont trust the gauge. Running out of fuel or a fuel pump going bad causing a lean condition can cause a backfire. My guess is you have a fuel issue. changing PP to rpm mode should have no real affect on how the boat is running. But you could put it back the way it was or tuen it off all together and see if things change. Make sure there is enough gas in the boat, make sure both fuel pumps are running. My guess is you lost one of the pumps or your out of gas.

Glad to hear you are up and running.
Sorry to hear you were siphoned.
I am sure someone will chime in on the gauge versus sending unit question

The sending unit is located on top of the fuel tank.
The tank is under the floorboard, which can be removed easily. (On my boat, you remove the carpet trim along the backbench seat and then remove the center part of the bench. After that there is only two bolts holding down ) pick up the back end only and then slide the floor board out as there are two things (not sure what they’re called ) that hold the front in place. On mu boat if the two wires are separated the gauge read empty, if you touch the wires together the gauge reads full.

Also one thing, (sort of a pet peeve of mine) you might want to turn off the caps lock, as using all uppercase is the same thing as yelling.
                Good luck

Ok I had 3 problems 1st two where the 12v power bus and the neg bus bars under the drivers console. Both the 12v and neg input wires had huge conectors on them way to big for the screw and they were loose. So I cut them off and put on the right size witch where blue conectors with small hole instead of the yellow conector with large hole. Also made alot of other little eletrical probs go away now that I have a good conection. The other problem was the gauge was bad. I talked to Lee at tige he said I might of had a friday boat. You know when its a friday boat and the guys are ready to go home things slip through. I do have a 05 but with mostly 04 parts due to the date it was built. Oh well I still would not own any other boat. Some day I will figure out how to upload pics I have a ton. Very detailed ballast install made all my own wire looms. FAE install, huge stereo install 2600 watts, custom leds, swivel board racks on oem tower ect

You can get the gauge fixed from Faria, I just got mine back, and it only cost $56 the only downfall is that its takes about 4 weeks.
