    V drive split in half

Over the weekend, while driving down our lake, the boat just suddenly stopped and would not go into gear. I pulled it to the local marina and thy told me the V-drive casing had split in half. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Do you have a contact at Tige to try and get the part under warranty?

    I don't believe a 2001 v-drive would still be covered under warranty.

No way they will warrant a 10 year old vdrive. Post up pictures and maybe someone here can help. Have heard of the mounting bolts coming loose and the vdrive splitting from the tranny, is that what happend? Sorry to hear your troubles.

I have a pretty much new v-drive that will fit that boat. I'll sell it to you for 450$. A new one costs around 3000$. It's an easy swap, 6 bolts a couple of hose clamps, done deal.

Here it is the mounts on the side are removable if yours doesn't have them,

Thats a good deal for a v drive, I have rebuilt 3 of these and they are about $1200 for the part for a complete rebuild.

I just bought a new blue one for 2300 from walter. Took it apart tuesday and they had me one by Friday and riding that night. Very impressed withbthem. Pretty easy to do your self, just plan on about ten hours from removal to install. Those bolts on the prop shaft Re buggers.

Also was told by many people to not have anyone rebuild besides walter or else they will fail again prematurely.

I don't know about that....I have rebuilt 3 and as far as I know to date none of them have failed. As long as you follow the instructions and fits and clearances set out by walter, you shouldn't have any problems. Glad to hear your back on the water tho!
