    Fuel pump noise... (errrr.....)

I have a 2001 2100V Limited and while idleing I can hear an intermitent whir or buzz coming from underneath the floor right where the fuel tank sits. It is very quiet and the boat seems to be getting plenty of fuel.. but the noise just scares me..should I be concerned about the fuel pump because that is the only thing that sits right there.. are there any sort of tests I can do to make sure the one I have is operating properly.. Also.. sometimes when I am running the boat with out the prop engaged.. and rev up a little.. if I cut it back directly to neutral the engine will stall.. It will start right back up but I just thought I would add this in there in case it was related.

    Thanks

    Mike

The fuel pump is located on the engine so the noise you're hearing may be bilge pump??? When the engine stalls, it's because of the Idle Air Control valve (IAC) and can be changed easily if the problem gets worse. Do you have a heatercraft heater on the boat? Sometimes the booster pump is located under the floor and you mught be hearing that.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

The bilge is in the rear and it is most definitely not that.. Also, I had a heater but had the core blow out twice now.. so now I bypassed the heater and tun it without for now. The sound is coming right from the middle of the boat.. inbetween the driver seat and the passanger seat cooler. It comes from inderneath the carpet where the fuel tank sits.. may be nothing.. I know the saying is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".. but I believe in preventative maintenance.

If it's an injected boat, the high pressure pump is not on the engine. It's on the tank or near it.

Not necessarily. The fuel injected MarinePower engines fuel pump is on the engine. I don't know about the others.

Is it just me or do these say exactly the opposite.. I have a 350MPI as far as I know.. 2001 2100V Limited Edition... How many differnt motors for my year of boat were there? Anyway, it is fuel injected.. I thought i saw the fuel pump sitting on the top of the tank but I will check it today or tomorrow...

You probably do have a fuel pump at the tank. I was just trying to clarify that not all fuel injected motors do.

Mines MP.. but its carbureted.. and is on the motor as well. (obviously). I thought all injected motors required a high pressure pump either on or in the fuel tank.
