[sigh]
I will try this one more time and try to be as polite as possible with it.

The fact detunning and dropping cylinders and spark over 2k with NO OIL PRESSURE is the dumbest sh it you could do and makes NO SENSE. It makes sense to me see below
It would take no work to program that imput as a validation signal vs a power down imput
Tell me You think a engine is going ot survive with no oil pressure at 2k? but not reving up?Nope I think it will cause damage to the engine
lol Ya great feature they should use that on everything.I think it is and will explain why I think so below Yes it is a FACT stupid that they would even allow the engine to start with NO OIL pressure.
Without seeing the diagrams or circuit or know exactly what the ECM parameters are all I can do is assume from the info we have received from this thread.
You say its stupid they would even allow the engine to start with no oil pressure.
But there IS NO OIL PRESSURE before you start the engine. in fact it takes a few seconds before it will build pressure. ( I am sure you know this)
So what you are describing how you think it should work the oil pressure switch needs to show oil pressure before starting. How would this even be possible unless you add some sort of electric oil pump that activates before you start the boat maybe? Maybe I am misunderstanding this point you are trying to make with this one. Not sure how you think it would be able to start?
Or are you thinking it should start, wait a few seconds then shut the engine off if it does not see pressure? If that is the case this is why they would NOT do this. Or use it as a validation signal.
And people in this thread said it before.
IT A HUGE SAFETY REASON and I am not talking engine safety. This is a boat not a car that you can just pull over and call a tow truck etc.
If my boat lost oil pressure and I am in a Sh*t storm in the middle of the lake I would rather limp my boat in and ruin the engine then risk my life out on the water. Think of it this way as well if the engine starts over heating the ECM doesn't shut it down it will let you drive it until the motor wont run anymore.
If they programed it to shut off the engine for any reason there a$$ would be getting sued I am sure.

It's unfortunate you had an engine issue that caused such frustration (I know the feeling, questioning how Mercruiser has so many "awesome" designs that passed R&D...) but rational to see why it's there when you see people in the situations we (commercial tow boat industry) do. It's obvious you know what your doing and tuning for 85 may be something others would support, but, seeing as you're a cummins guy, get a 250hp marine 4BT and slap it in that boat, way less headaches. We're starting that project as soon as we find a donor inboard boat but pics and documentation will be rampant. Keep the boat and curse the software design engineer... there's no way that guy is having as much fun on the water as we are!!!
Wicked I think you may just rub some people here the wrong way all your post just come across very arrogant and full of ego and it seems that you don't care for any ones input if it is not the same as yours. But I could be totally wrong I usually am.
With the E85 I just dont understand why some one would want to go through all the hassle of making it work for a little more power when you all ready have a great boat with adequate power. It just seems like it would cost you lots of money and TIME . I am not questioning your ability to make it happen I just dont see the logic in it, plus the pain in the but it would be to get E85 near the lakes. Also destroying the resale value in the boat.
Its kinda like if its not broke dont fix it.
Ok that was my best at not being hostile I hope you can see if from another angle if not O-well I give up.
Now go enjoy your boat every one. I am going to go install my alternator back in mine to pull it back out Monday so I can ride this weekend.Last edited by lohe; 06-11-2011, 01:48 AM.

When you start a thread that states ,( WONT BUY A SECOND ) this tends to set the tone, most on this site are very generous with their knowledge and wanting to share and help.
Insulting of the product, the dealer techs who work on them and any others doesnt help your situation either now or in the future, most here are forgiving and ready to move on to the rest of the boating season , lets hope we can take away something of value from this post.

Beautifully done 'lohe'! I spotted this thread when it first came about as one of those that could drive you crazy reading but made for some good laughs when you had nothing better to do...instead of using tigeowners.com as a means of help.. "Mr. Know-it-all" decided to make it a soap opera. I'll never buy a Dodge if they have people like him working for them..And even if I do, I'll be sure to find some Dodge forum to bitch about it and piss everyone off and tell them what a POS Dodge's are. This thread used to make me mad but now I laugh. One thing is for certain, ignorance "ISN'T" bliss in this case..

Wow, things escalated quickly... I'd like to point out a couple of things. 1. I had good luck working with Tige when I bought my old Tige a few years ago. I didn't always get a prompt call-back, but with a little persistence I always got what I wanted/needed, wich I was impressed with, given the boat was 7 years old. I really felt the guys over there went out of their way to be helpful. I think to some degree, a lot has changed in the boat industry in the last few years. I'm not saying this relates to Tige directly, but a number of manufacturers cut back on employees during the downturn due to lower than usual sales. Now, business has picked up dramatically, and the manufacturers are operating at full capacity. This may affect their customer service to some extent. Nonetheless, I was happy with Tige and would consider owning one again someday.
2. I read a lot of threads both here and on other forums that boats and cars can't be compared bc of the difference in sales volume. I agree with this to some extent, but, then to be fair, I don't think it's reasonable to say "could you call Dodge, Ford, Chevy, etc. and expect them to talk to you about your problems."
