Winterized boat for winter. Since launching for Spring season, had out 3-4 times. Two issues.....
When I throttle forward just enough to get going....it has symptoms like an auto transmission going out. It's like it takes it 5-10 seconds to "catch" and start forward.
Issue #2...... When throttling for a rapid increase in RPM's, it starts cutting out @ 3000-3200 rpm.....then it will starts running OK for a while. Basically, it will run smooth a while, then starts "coughing" or cutting out.
The temp. gauge (if accurate) not showing increase in motor temp.
On a 1-10 scale, my mechanical know how would be in the 1to 3 range.....sot of first grade level...so
Questions:
Could it be something simple.....a few things I can do to see if it will correct the problem?
Could partial blockage at the water intake for the impeller cause symptoms this significant?
Based on symptoms, would you say, "Don't waste your amateur efforts, drop your key off at trusted marine mechanic?
I welcome your counsel on this!
