I never considered it a problem on my 05 24V with the 537 to have a 1300 pound enzo type ballast bag and 7 or 8 people all on that side. SO I am sure a 1235 will do just fine with the extra weight you are hoping to add.

And that was with the 340 HP engine. IIRC, the 380 HP engine was mostly identical in torque and power until you reached 4000 RPM or something useless like that.

In the front, the lockers are quite small and I don't think you will get as much as you are hoping for. Maybe 250 pounds of water on a good day on each side.

I think when I really had a lot of fat people on the boat, the swimstep did start to cut into the wave a little. So I think a swimstep mod would be a great idea.

As lots of people have said (in other threads), don't forget to start adding weight to the other side when you have the side you are surfing on adequately sunk. I found that if I had a lot of people, the boat handled better and made a better surf wave with some ballast on the other side too.
          Be excellent to one another.

I know that on my 24Ve, the 1235 was an amazing addition, with or without weight. Boat even handled better without weight. But the boat cavitated alot with weight, and the 1235 eliminated it.

This sounds like a very fun project. I would love to do a podcast about it if you were closer. Maybe something via skype? Sounds like a blast.

I know with my Ve, we couldn't get enough weight in the lockers, but we even took a day to put weight on top of everything, just to see what would happen. Dennis, RJ and I. The boat just didn't seem to react well to it, at least we didnt' see anything that made us think it could be better than the RZ2, so we gave up and went surfing on the RZ2. The reason we did that was because I was contemplating a similar project. I was going to gut the interior, and weight it however I want. Just a drivers seat and an engine, for sh*ts and giggles. But the test we started to do, didn't give us enough feedback to continue.

So I decided to go another route....

We have been planning all winter to take the 24Ve to wakemakers in Oregon to let them show off one of their kits to make it easy for a boat owner without ballast to buy a kit and install, and make a great surf/board boat that is effortless to use, just a few switches. It should be fun.

I am really looking forward to seeing how your boat comes out duffy, if there is anything we can do to help you document, let me know. I love those kinds of projects.

For a good surf wave, though, you need to stack them like firewood in the rear corner seat

Thanks guys, it should be a fun build. I think the 24v has the greatest potential in my budget for a surf boat build. May even think about adding a switchblade- powerwedge to it as well. The bow area seems super large. I plan on running the custom bow sacs up to the nose and all the way back to the observer seat area. I honestly didn't measure it, I am going to go custom on it as well though. Should be an epic wave!

Think I found my new boat. Has an evolution tower which looks sweet but people have had some issues with, but I decided I like it. I was talked out of the 380 hp motor. Torque curve-rpm isn't as good as the 340hp motor.

Duffy - looks like a nice boat! I would guess that it was originally purchased from Boats of Nevada in Henderson, as the former owner of the dealership was friends with Bob Metcalfe (Metcraft founder) and outfitted a lot of the boats he sold with Metcraft towers.

                              Congrats and good luck!
