    Ballast Pumps

Hey guys; One of my Mayfair ballast pumps is leaking between the cartrige, and the canister. Im hoping that just a new O ring or cartrige insert will do the fix. BUT, if not, are these things just threaded onto the PVC pipe from the base of the canister? I cant tell due to the precarious location of the pump manifold.
    Thanks

Yes, i'm pretty sure they are. The are, I believe, 3/4 NPT. I would inspect close to make sure it didnt freeze and crack.

If you have to replace the whole thing you will need to cut the threads to length but they are just normal pipe thread. What I have found when they leak there is that the pump motor fails and melts and then it won't seal so replacing the cartrige is all you need to do. They also break off the hose nipple alot so check it for cracks.

I contacted Johnson Pumps. Great people to deal with. The lady I spoke to was Nancy Caravello. Shes sending me two differant size O rings to try out. No cost to me at all. Not even shipping. I figure I'll start there, then work forward. I'll keep you posted.
