    Bilge Pump

I was only able to use my boat about 5 times after I bought it last fall. I do not think that the bilge pump is working. Is there an easy way to check it? I could not hear anything and I tried to put my hand on it but did not feel anything. At the inspection stations before I could launch it i was asked to turn it on and I flipped the switch and was told I was good. One person even put their hand over the outlet when they asked me to turn it on. I tried it and did not feel anything.

I believe that it is a Rule Mate 500 GPH. If I get a new one should be able to use the same base and just switch the two units? Is there any value in replacing it with the 750 GPH or 1100 GPH? With the few times that I had it out I never saw any water in the back by the pump. All the water accumulates in front of the engine and only drains when I am on a steep hill. I still have wondered where the water even comes from?

One thing that might be of consideration is that got a custom surf sac, thanks Chp, would either the weight being in the back causing the water from the center to flow toward the back or the possibility of the bag breaking be a reason to go bigger?

    Thanks for any input.

Put your plug in and fill the bilge with water. I like to do this every season just make sure the float switch is working.

You have to check both ways auto and manual. First put the switch on the dash to the on postion go back and feel the pump. You should feel it running if you cant its bad or the circuit to it is bad. To test auto you can fill it with water but it takes alot of water to get it to come on. The easiest way to check it is to unsnap it from the base and flip it upside down you should feel it come on. If it does not work in auto make sure you check the fuse over at the battery. I would get the 750 it will snap intot he same base.
