    What is this?

Found this in the bottom of my bilge (2005 22V) during the last oil change.

the long arm of the L shape is about 8 in. (from memory) and the short arm about 6in. You can see the circular curl in the steel on the short arm in the photo. On the long arm, there is a tab where it appears to have broken off from something?

The flat broken end probably bolted to the engine block and the rounded end probably slid over a rubber bushing. It acted as a support for something and also a dampener. Raw water pump, fuel pump housing, trans cooler, etc.

That appears to be the raw water pump support bracket that runs off the front of the crankshaft, looks like it broke where it bolts to the block.

That does look to be the raw water pump bracket. Lucky you found it now. You will want to get a new one ASAP and do not run the boat without it. You got lucky that things didn't get ugly back there.

BTW what engine do you have? I thought it would be a Marine Power...but they are silver and the bracket is black. So I am curious as to wich engine you have. Has the motor been replaced or rebuilt?

its a MP but the bracket is not black. Must be the angle of the photo. It's dark gray/silver.

Go look at the front of the crankshaft and you will see the water pump sticking straight out with 2 hoses comeing off of one side , there will be a round boss that had a bushing and bolt that wrapped around the circle of your bracket in your picture, there will be two bolts on the face of the block which should have the rest of your broken support.
