Yes I have the v-drive with the gear reduction. Over all I'm very happy with the boat, guess its more of an ego trip that its slower than expected. Although I do like to barefoot and its hard for most people to barefoot at 35mph. I'm only getting 4500 rpm's, 33 mph on the perfect pass and 35 mph on the dash. I ment to take the GPS last time out, but forgot.
I called Tige again today and they still think the 537 acme prop probably isnt ideal for my altitude. They gave me acme's # and wanted me to call them and see what they suggest for a prop.

Let's see - I'm not an engineer, but if the rpm / speed graph is somewhat linear, and your boat does 35 mph at 4500 rpm, then at 5000 rpm it should do 38.8 mph.

I have not seen the power band graph of this engine, but for most engines, the horsepower curve flattens out at top rpm, which would actually bring your top speed down from the crudely calculated 38.8 mph.

It just doesn't add up. It makes sense for the engine to not be able to produce 5,000 rpm at WOT (because of the altitude). However, at 4500 rpm you should be able to do around 40 mph. My guess is the transmission is keeping your boat from going faster, because the engine turns and your prop doesn't.

Unless you're dragging your anchor or something other than Taps is protruding from the hull, I just can't see how anything else could be doing it. Check your gauges against a gps. If they check out, raise a big stink with your dealer. Your boat should be able to do better.

You don't have a huge bimini pointing to the ski acting like a parachute - do you?

Have you asked your dealer how fast their demo boats go around your area lakes? I have a feeling that they do go faster. If they say that the demos only go 35, ask them to prove it to you. With a logical explanation, I can be convinced otherwise, but right now, I'm certainly not buying it.
