    2005 22V speed

Just wondering what other owners are getting for top speed. I just bought a 05 22V with the MPI 315 merc. Our lakes here are around 4500 ft elevation. Only getting 35mph on the dash gage and 33mph on the perfect pass speedo. The dealer switched the prop out for the 537. Still no difference. They told me it should do close to 45 mph at 5000rpm's.

Not sure of the elevation here, but I know It's really close to sea level. I'm not sure on the RPM's, but we can only get it to about 39 on a glassy day, and the boat is huffin'.

Top speed on my boat is about 45 indicated on the dash speedo and about 42 on perfect pass. I need to make a run with GPS and find the true speed. The speedo and perfect pass have been matched to GPS in the 15-30 MPH range where most of the riding time is spent.

Oh yeh, 05 22V with 340 MPI and stock prop. Elevation about 800.

I believe our boat is just under 45. I haven't paid much attention. I'll double check next time I'm out and repost.

2205 22v w/ 340HP Tige GM Vortec (Marine Power) and standard prop (13x13 4 blade acme).

Elevation in St. Louis is 430 ft. I didn't notice any difference when crusing Table Rock Lake at 900ft, other than the water is much clearer.

If draginass is getting 48 mph, then someone in my family is being overfed. I'll have to look for the offender

I called Tige today and at thier test facility at 1700 ft, a 22V with 315Mpi motor runs 47mph. They refered me to a couple of high altutde dealers to see what they are running. I called them. They are running the same prop I am (acme 13.5x16 4-blade), but getting 42-43 mph at about 4900rpm at the same altitude I run. Clearly something is wrong with my new boat.
Thanks for all the quick replies everyone.
Smendez if you really are running a 13x13 4-blade at under 1000ft it is a very small prop for that altitude and 340 motor. Tige runs a 13.5x16 on thier 22v 315 at 1700 and gets 47mph.

I'm gonna check with the GPS this weekend, but my speed was sort of confirmed last weekend in a race with a buddies donzi. I lost, but he stayed even with me at 47ish, then dropped the hammer.

My boat doesn't have the stock ballast system, just the added ballast of me!!

I knew I should have checked. I had doubts when I posted it and you called me to the mat on it - I lost.

I have two props that are identical. My spare here says 537 13.5x16 V L 1 1/8". It is a 4 blade acme propeller.

                  Sorry for the mis-information.

Thanks for checking on your prop. That seems to be the most common prop (the acme 537) on the 22V's.
I took my boat down to the dealer again yesterday to have them check it out again. They found that the throttle cble was way out of adjustment. Hopefully that will fix it.
They also showed me the pics of the 06' 22V's. I really like that new back end with all the added storage.

Confirmed Via GPS. I guess smendez has to start looking for that ballast

Went out yesterday. I checked twice.

Wide Open Throttle - 5000 RPM - 5 people in the boat. Combined passenger weight is 650 pounds (or so they tell me). Water was fairly flat.

The boat hit between 44.5 and 44.9 MPH. It never hit 45 MPH.

I don't believe we carry any more gear than anyone else.

I'm going to buy a new scale this weekend and line up the crew

Had the boat out a couple times since the dealer adjusted the throttle cable. Still only getting 35mph. Getting more and more frustrated with this boat. Didn't spend 50K on a new boat to have it in the shop as much as I use it.

                              madmax:

Is your boat reaching the desired 5,000 rpm? If it is, then it's not the throttle or anything in the engine. You will then have to look at the transmission or V-Drive.

Oh - yes the V-Drive. Dragginass: My boat has the gear reduction V-Drive. This will make a difference in top end.

                              Back to you madmax:
If it's not the V-Drive or the transmission, you will need to find what the heck is making your boat drag in the water so bad.

Have you used a gps to check this? What makes you think it's not the gauges? I had to recalibrate Perfect Pass, it was way off in my boat.

I think I heard my dealer say once that they recalibrate the Fariah Speedometer on every boat before delivery.
