Doubt it Ive seen more people trying to muffle the SS or look to move it back to center then I have seen people wanting to convert their boat to it.

How long has side exhaust been out? Not just on the Centurions, but on boats in general, and no one else has jumped on that train.

fishing boats use outboards, so their exhaust is thru-prop

the side exhaust system, is like around 5K more, plus cutting holes in the side of the hole is not fun, then trying o run the exhaust hoses

i know centurions has had them for 10 years or so
the enzo was meant to wake surf, you can switch which side exhaust you want so the surfer can ride the opposite side

the offshore racers have been using it for sometime, they need to muffle he exhaust when going through inlets because of noise limits

i installed one system on my buddies 600 HP boat, because he was getting in trouble because his boat was so freaking loud!!
Im trying to post pictures from my phone

but since then we removed it, freaking took up too much room in the motor compartment

So how is the SS system advantageous for boat manufacturers again? The only positive of the system is being able to switch it from side to side. Other than that it seems to be a giant waste of time, money, effort and materials. A boat owner could purchase an FAE for around $400, do the install themselves in a couple hours and end up with a far better performing product. Know what I mean?

              yes your correct

but you can back into something with it, maybe without a swim deck
somebody can steal it on trailer

as for the exhaust (captains call also called captions choice)
the point is to keep it quite and divert the exhaust fumes

the FAE, does not divert the exhaust to one side, it just puts it under water

the captains call divert it to the other side above water where he outside air will take disperse the CO2 gases

it all started when the family let their kids hold onto the swim deck, and they kids died

if you now of a good machine shop, they can make that for under 200

$400 is a crime, heck tuna towers cost around $1000 installed and there is way way more work involved

as for performance you might see 2-5 MPH more with captains all

as for FAE, i bet you loose some speed

FAE threads have gone down this path for years dude. The real of the situation is that for $400, your done. No jimmy jackin at some machine shop where they have never dealt with subtitles involved with the downspout. No trips to the hardware store tracking down miscellaneous hardware, stainless no less. One call and it's all done. No one who has one ever complains about the price, full or discounted.

they're boat/model specific, so not much of a black market. Not many towboats running around with the platform off.

Lets start with the gas: Carbon Monoxide (Co) is the poisonous gas, not Carbon Dioxide (Co2). That's 4-gas 101

Captains Call is anything but quite. It's louder then thru-transom, just like Side Swipe.

FAE is just as effective at diverting the Co away from the surfer as SS is.

if you now of a good machine shop, they can make that for under 200
                  Doubt it.

                  $400 is a crime
Some would say the same about what boat mechanics charge

                  [/QUOTE]

FAE is about a 2-3 MPH drop in top-end, but heck, when was the last time you saw someone wake-board at 45 MPH

If you back into something with it, you are probably going to back into something without it as well.
In the time it would take to steel it, time would be better spent taking off the tongue and steeling the entire boat instead. For that matter, bet your tires get stolen before the exhaust is stolen. Much better market out there for them.

                      $400 is a crime
I don't know...it should last the life of your boat. Considering what it does for safety and noise reduction so you can hear your boating buddies enhansing your boating experience, I think it's a fair price.

as for FAE, i bet you loose some speed
Someone asked about being able to get 40mph for barefooting not too long ago. I went out soon after that question and posted I had absolutely no problem attaining 40mph and had throttle to go when at that speed. I second chpthrl on this one. If speed is a concern...better reprop and do it right then.

Not sure how that captains call works but if you have to change which side of the boat the exhaust is on depending on what side your surfing on...equals one more thing to monitor. FAE = no monitoring.

I thought there were some lakes/states that outlawed the captain's call due to noise?

Also one more thing to break and I'd imagine potentially a PITA to fix.

I don't know that we lost any top speed. I was at 45 this past Summer post FAE install. I am going to check next year. Maybe the i-models are just better?

The only thing I will maintain is that I did not notice as huge a drop in noise as others claim... again that might just be because the i's engine is so close to the captain.

I wont have a boat without the FAE... IMO best thing ever invented for the Tige or any other V-Drive or Direct Drive... I would have the FAE before a stereo, or nice wheels or any other option on the boat... Easy to install and Larry from FAE is always available to help via phone... You cant get that at a machine shop! I recommend it to everyone I see... and ALL people that have been on my boat are sold by the FAE and it's ablilties... Thanks Larry (FAE)!!!
