    Fuel gauge not working

I have a 2004 22V and the fuel gauge stoped working. I have found a few threads to do with this issue. With them I have eliminated the gauge. I am woundering if someone can help me locate and test the sending unit.

I don't know how many times i've tried to fix my fuel gauge on my 06 22v. I finally said screw it, now I just go by the number of hours since my last fill up to guess when i'm about out of guess. What a pile of crap. I've run out of gas in the middle of the lake 3 times.

Thanks for the link I will try that. I would be nice to have the gauge working, running out of fuel is a bummer. Also I have the 6L with the closed loop system and need some advise for winterizing. I have had the dealer do it in previos years but it is a 3 hour drive.Hoping to do it myself this year.

        Thanks again!

Just get a FF meter, even when the gas gauge is working properly it will still be inaccurate and get you into trouble.

FF meter?? Assuming fuel flow but not sure. Who makes them and where do I get one?

Sorry, yes, fuel flow. If you have a carb on your engine they are easy to find online. Faria makes one but there are other companies as well. A simple carb motor FF meter should be no more than 200 bucks. If you have fuel injection then it gets a little more expensive, there are a few threads on this site where the owner paid close to 800 bucks for the FF meter system. It's more expensive due to the fuel return line back to the fuel tank. If you are serious about hating the gas gauge and want to go with a FF meter keep watching the threads, I'll post up my research for adding a FF meter to my PCM 343 over the winter.

                  Thanks, Ewok

I will check out the Faria website. Of course I have fuel injection so $800 my be to rich for my blood. I am interested in checking it out. Is this what most people are using? If so are you happy with the set-up?

I had one in my old boat, it was a carb mercruiser, it worked great and I miss it. Im going to investigate and probably add one this winter. I'm sure there is a cheaper way than 800 bucks and when I find it ill be sure to post about it. Until then I fill up before going out on the lake every time and I set the alarm on the digital gas gauge for 1/3 remaining, or 33.33% remaining if you will, with the .33 repeating of course
