I just did mine on a 2003 22v, just remove the seat box, take up the floor, and I find it helpful to remove the wood in the back around the battery on the port side so you can reach everything easier, it is just a few screws. I moved the fuel pump out of the way and pulled the water pump (loosen belt and remove the two bolts at the top of the bracket, only applies to mercruiser 350mag mpi engine) as well because I do not have monkey arms. It seems a lot of people manage to be able to reach through the tight spaces with one arm blind but I found it faster to just get everything out of the way and be able to see what I am doing. It is very tight working on this model back there and there is a lot of stuff in the way on the port side compared to other models and engines.
You will need a 1 1/8 inch wrench for the big nut, these can be found at an auto parts store.
I called Tige to confirm the length before ordering from skidim.com, ordered the part below and it was perfect. There are guys on this forum that can sell you one as well I believe.
