Unwrapped the new 24Ve, have some questions...

    1) The battery switch doesn't disconnect the batteries from the secondary systems. Everything still works - horn, blower, all lights, radio, everything even with the battery switch set to OFF. I've never, ever seen a boat wired this way. Usually the bilge pump is wired around the switch, but nothing else. Is this normal for Tiges? What is the reasoning behind it?

    2) The bow recliner seat backs - the ones with the gas cylinder lifts - do not stay down. The gas cylinders are so powerful that they both pop up on their own. There is not enough friction between the seat backs and the seat bottoms to hold them, and there doesn't seem to be any sort of catch or other mechanical hold. It's not safe to drive this way because the driver's vision might be cut off any any moment. I don't see any adjustments anywhere.

    Thanks!

My 08 is wired the same way on the battery switch, All auxiliary equipment will run with the perko switch in off. I thought that strange also.
My Bow storage hatches do not have any type of latch system and will stay down with the bow seats installed or removed, that one is a question for your dealer.

Looks like you got a lemon, better take it back to the dealer

The battery switch is wired like that on all Tige's from what I have seen.

          Then:

          1) How do you make certain something isn't left on and draining the battery?

          2) What is the purpose of the battery switch? Just to prevent starting the engine? The keyswitch does that.

Yeah - the only thing it seems to disconnect is the starter. I think just a couple weeks ago a dealer on here said that you should always flip off the main switches on the breaker box when you park the boat.

              Another question...

How do I pull up the floor access panel? I tried gently prying on all edges but it doesn't budge. I presume there is a catch or screws somewhere that need releasing but I can't find them.

              Thanks!

If you have the EIDB system, it does serve another function. It isolates the house battery from the starting battery, so if you drain your house by cranking the stereo for a long time, you will still have a fresh starting battery.

That's what Tony did for shipment, which made good sense, but it's a bit awkward to do that every single night.

I wonder if there's enough slack in the wiring back there to rearrange things. The wires in question will be small gauge so the big starter cables won't need changing.

                    1) Make sure you turn everything off before you cover the boat.

                    2) Correct, but if you do not turn off the battery switch on mine the batteries will be drawn down or dead depending on how long the boat sets

If it's an electronic isolator, then if you leave something on to drain the battery, once they get to a low enough level, the switch will automatically isolate one battery, like Dingle mentioned. It's default is to always leave them both on.
                      Waiting for another good one!

You might have to pull the backseat cushion off and then remove the seat bottom to get the floor to flip up. That's how it is on my boat. It looks like it would lift up without doing that but it doesn't.

Wow, that looks word for word like my first post on this site!

Ok, WABoating, the battery switch ONLY disconnects the starting battery. If you want to disconnect everything else like I do, you will have to reach under the dash and turn both of the bus switches OFF, they look like white light switches. That is the only way. This weekend in fact I am about to add another Perko battery disconnect switch for my house battery so I won't have to reach under the dash. I am going to mount it right next to the factory switch in the aft port locker.

To open up the floor you are going to need to remove the rear bench seat cushion. I have not done it on my boat but there are threads on here about how to do it.

Good luck, and i'll PM you my cell phone number if you have any other immediate questions this weekend, It can get frustrating but I went through this in July so I can definitely sympathize.

I believe there are 2 breaker switches under the helm at the BUSS bar that will power down the helm.

                            Yes

This simple ON/OFF switch works fine for a single battery setup, but when the EIDB dual battery option is added in, this is the scenario that you get.

It would not be hard to rewire the system and use the existing ON/OFF switch to open/close the ground wire between the starting battery and the engine. This would work unless there are any individual grounds on the engine. Another simple solution is to add in a second ON/OFF just for the house battery.
