    Weighing 24V?

OK, so I have an '05 24V and I installed my own ballast system, I put a 440lb sack on each side of the engine, and a 350lb sack in the front storage areas (under the control area and in the spotter seat back). Well I have found the the wake is really washed out and incredibly suseptible to people placement in the boat. We are riding at 19.5 per the perfect pass but I think it is wrong, I think we are more around 21, and I know we are not doing the 35 that the factory speedo says we are doing (brining the GPS this weekend to check). Should I be putting more weight in the front/rear? Where should I start? I am new to this so any suggestions would be helpful. I was thinking of swapping out the rear 440s for a pair of 540s, mainly to increase the surf wake and keep the 440s seperate for surfing only, but I may need to position them somewhere else to help stabilize the wake. Thanks for any help

I would try adding at least 500 in the nose of the boat. Add the weight as far forward as possible too. It sounds like you have it really back heavy but not enough in the front.

Also 21 mph is borderline slow. Most boats wakes (especially a big model like the 24V) will wash at that speed and weight combo. Try a few different weight/speed combos till you get it dialed in.

Thanks for the help! That is what I was thinking, I may try flipping the sacks this weekend then, put the 440s in the front and the 350s in the rear.

I think i mis-read your post on your weight distribution.

Try a 60% weight in the rear and 40% weight in the front combination.

So for example leave the 440s in the back and then place the 350s in the very front of the nose. I would fill the 350s till about 1/2-3/4 full, depending on how much room you have.

Two 440s in the front is too much weight and you probably wont have room for them.

right now the 350s are in the mid storage compartments, I will try and move them to under the front seats? I had noticed that the boat was "working" to get on plane, this should help. What about Taps, what is you experience with riding, I automatically put it to 7 when I ride but I may be screwing that up as well. (My driver is not very "experienced" so I try and give her as little to do as possible, basically just steer and pick my up when I fall)

I haven't been on a 24V in a few months so I don't quite remember the exact setup. However I usually ride on a 22V with similar weight and we would put the taps anywhere from 4-5.

I don't think the 350s will fit under the front seats. The 22Vs and 24Vs I have been on have had a sac(usually a 600 or a 440) in the walkway along with some lead in the front storage areas, of course this is dependant on how much weight is in the back .

I thought Tiges did not need sacks.

they don't "need" sacks.... but man, when you sack out a 22v or 24v, you get one BIG SOLID wake.

Like they say in our great state of Texas, Bigger is Always better. That goes for wakes, too.

On my 2100v Ltd I run with 2 300s in the back and 1 500 in the walkway. Matt's right about the distribution.

Also, you have to adjust the TAPS to the speed of the boat. I've found you can usually find a speed where it won't wash out the wake at most speeds.

Thanks for all the help, I went out this weekend and changed a lot of the set up and the wake is now sick! I put a pair of 540 sacks in the rear, I have a pair of 350s up front, a single 440 in the front walk way as far forward as it can go, and a single 85lb launch block to even the boat out. I am so stoked at how the wake is now! Even a barney like me can get big air, my only problem is I am running out of excuses as to why I suck so bad

Sounds like you need one of those tug boat fog horns to warn other boats

Nice. You can never run out of excuses, "it was the drivers fault", "the water is too rough", "hung over", "perfect pass is not holding"...the list goes on and on!

Nah man, it aint that bad! Actually it is amazing how much weight it takes to build the wake with this boat, it is so boyant it is amazing.

My latest excuse is "fat guys can't jump as high as skinny guys" which I feel holds merrit, of course now the wife says this is a perfect time to hit the gym

                              Wakeboarding excuses

I've used all of the following with varying degrees of success:

I have pneumonia (cough, cough), my doc said I should be hospitalized, but I told him I need to be wakeboarding. 'probably Tuberculosis' he said.

I have no cartilage left in my knees.

                              I have a blown disc.

I'm too tall for this, just getting out of the water takes as much skill for me as Parks requires for a crow mobe 540.

I don't tell many people, but I'm actually 72 years old.
                              Be excellent to one another.
