Transmission Or Gearbox Replacement??

We were out last friday, had 4 people in my 04 22v with 323 hours on it and the boat stopped moving and a hammering sound coming from the engine compartment.

A local mechanic looked at it and told me it is the gear box or tranny or both... Does anyone know where I can buy or have my gearbox rebuilt??

Im so frustrated right now, is this a common issue??

No its not common. I dont really see how it could be both. I think I would get a second opinion. I would want to make sure its not just broken coupler bolts or something simple and have in narrowed down to wich is causing the issue trans. or V-box.

X2 on the coupler bolts coming loose.
