    Impeller

I have a 2002 23V with a Mercruiser, 315hp. There seems to be 2 possible impellers available. I would like to have a spare on the boat. Anyone know if these have the flat shaft or not. I suppose I could just ake the cover off and look but this is easier from work.

Don't know if this helps or not. My '01 23V with the 315hp has the flat shaft. I used a globe blue silicone impeller, which only comes as a keyed type. Mercruiser sells an adaptor (little chunk of metal) that converts from flat to keyed. It's pretty cheap - less than $2.
The globe is supposed to last a little longer and stand up to running without water for short periods.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be

03' merc will have the hub with two flat spots 180deg from eachother. some would call it the "new" impeller.

02' could have either one, old or new. the old style has a plastic pump housing, the new is brass and will have two blue wingnut plugs on both the intake and discharge ports on the pump.

          Impeller Woes

Anyone on the forums can feel free to contact me regarding the Globe Blue Run-Dry (r) impeller, I am the Product Manager. The Globe model for the Mercruiser is 2000. This is the 3/4 single flat shaft profile. I read about a double flat, we have no record of this being a Mercruiser profile. If anyone can fill me in on a new shaft profile and details, that would be great.

          Best regards

In mid 2002 the Mercs in Tige changed on the cooling side. From the drain plugs and their location to the new style impeller housing.

              Where is my Impeller?

              I have an 06 24ve with a GM vortec 6.oL.

Where does water get pulled for the engine on a 24ve?

You have a crank mounted impeller and the water comes from the lake to cool the exhaust and the heat exchanger.
