Just bought a (91 hour) 1999 2100v and my buddys want to pay for their fair share of the gas we use. Anyone got a estimate of how much fuel we burn while wakesurfing.

when I had my boat I would take cash from anyone that offered. If they just rode around I really wouldn't even ask, but if they offered...
My friends would always throw a ten or 20 my way, we went out all day sat and sunday and normally if they gave a 20, the next day they would bring food or drinks.
Just take what you think is fair... It always works out in the end IMO. there is more to owning a boat then just the cost of the gas. If you tow him for a short time, but tow your family for ever then you shouldn't ask for as much.
I never asked for money unless I dragged them all day every day. I bought the boat for fun and pleasure of I love the water. If I was going out then I"m going out for me. It's a bonus to get everyone else. Plus not a lot of my friends did anything but drink, so was good ballast for my boarding.
It also depends on your friends. If G-Money chimes in here he will have a different outlook on things. He has to tell his friends what to chip in or else they won't chip in at all, and he has some he won't invite anymore because of it.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

Either way though I don't get bent about it. As Dom said, I bought it to have fun with friends and get a kick out of taking everyone out. I suppose the story could be different if everyone started mooching.
Ohh yeah, and the boat is not a gas hog. I can pull surfers all day long on less than a tank. Little more for boarding.

There is one couple that goes with us that has been pitching in for gas for years, most other people never really bothered and I always filled up on the way to the ramp while meeting friends at the ramp. Out sight, out of mind for the friends?
Now with the new Z1, I keep it in a storage garage at the ramp and everyone meets at the garage to load the boat and I usually bring 2-3 5-gallon tanks and dump then in while getting ready, then the rest of the people realize how much gas we really use and they have now started pitching as well. About $10-$20 per person.
We don't seem to use as much gas as others above though? Maybe we are just not going as hard?Friends don't let friends POWERTURN
