    Intermittent stalling under load

My 2006 22V sometimes loses power, missing and sputtering with a foul exhaust smell. Turning it off and back on It is usually OK for a while. I had an issue with the fuel system relay where the fuel pump did not
click on when you turn the key. Reseating the relay usually fixed this. I’ve replaced the relay and don’t have the starting issue. Any suggestions? As always thanks for the assistance.

I had this issue on my 22V 2003 with a mercruiser engine. I had an error code over "overspeed" in the ECM. I did 2 things one of which fixed it. 1. I had recently changed the oil and noticed it was filled a tad high so I removed about a 1/2 quart. 2. I checked the water pressure sensor on for the raw water pump. I unscrewed it, cleaned it off and reset it back in. After doing those two things, it fixed my issue completely.

      I’d check the basics first:
      1. Plugs and wires make sure they are good; replace if needed.
      2. Change fuel filter
      3. ensure spark arrestor is clean/clear
      4. Check negative and positive bus bars for loose connections.
      5. Could be signs of potentiometer starting to go bad. Made by mouser. I’d absolutely do the easy ones first.
