    2011 Tige 20v

    Couple questions,

I'm looking at getting a 20v and I talked to my Tige dealer and he told me they would be updating the 20v later this summer. I asked would they have an "alpha" style tower and he told me this is in the works but couldn't ever get an answer from Tige.

So my question is has anyone heard of this, or should i just buy me a 20v w/o a tower and put a samson razor on it. MY GOAL IS TO FIT IN A 7' GARAGE DOOR. would this achive my objective? Would a Z1 fit under a 7' door with the alpha tower?

Hopefully they put a alpha tower on it and it fits just fine in my garage.

I have a bayliner 185 w/ tower and stuff but i really want a v-drive boat, but it has to fit in my garage. Length is not an issue because my garage is 25' deep. Sorry about the word vomit.

Sorry no help on the height issue. I have a 09 Z1 with Z Tower and it is pretty low though when it is down, but I never measured it.

That would be a huge upgrade for you if it works! I did something similar last year!

I have heard rumors of a revamp of the 20V but don't know details.

Could you get your z1 in a "standard" garage (7' door) with your tower down?

If it doesn't i'm going to have to get a moomba outback v, which i like, but the tige should a bit better with the deeper v hual and i love the dealer here.

I would say you should go down to your lovely Tige dealer and measure the height on the trailer so you will know for sure. My Z1 with the Alpha tower fits great. The tower when at rest in the down position still has around 5 or 6 inches that it can be pressed down further. Go with the Z1.

Thanks for the info, good to hear a z1 will fit. My dealer does not have any z1 or 20v for me to look at right now. I'll prob have to special order whatever I get, may just do the 20v with the razor if I have to.

Hopefully they'll end up with an alpha style tower on the 20v, Malibu now has the single loop towers avalible for all there boats.

Love my 20V! Great little boat at a great price. If the do restyle it, they will surely restyle the price to with it.

IMO - if you take 6 or less on a regular basis, the 20V would be good. 6 or more, get the Z1. I was in a similar situation, got the Z1 and am very happy with it. I usually take 6 or more.

My 20V would not go under the 7 foot door with stock e-series tower. The trailer bunks had to be lowered. The issue is the trailer and how high the bottom is from the fround which will controll the tower clearance. With my trailer we had to lower boat by 2 inches on the bunks so it would fit. When I went to a Samson Sports Razor Tower I had an inch to spare verses 1/2 inch with Tige tower.

I have been told the 20V will have major rework in 2011 but I could not get specifics from Jean Wagner or Tony from Tige. My understanding is that it is a significantly new ride and not just small changes to the tried and true 20V.

I've got an 04 Switch V (same boat as today's 20v), and I can get it into my garage with the tower folded. It is an old metcraft tower, not the newer ones. I believe I have a 7' garage door too. I'm not positive, but I believe I have an Extreme trailer.

Ditto on Dave S comments...if you have a decent crowd, get the Z1.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Not to be a rabble rouser but we are talking the difference of 1 passenger between the Z1 and the 20V. Yes the cockpit is a little wider on the Z1 but the both have small bow area seating and the main cockpits are really close space wise.

The ratings plate does indicate the Z1 can carry one more passenger or x pounds of weight but when I looked at the Z1 it seemed to be so close in size that the extra passenger rating would be very tight at full capacity.

My impression was that part of the extra foot in length is used in the activity center but that could be just my impression.

Don't take this wrong because I think the Z1 is a nice ride but in 08 it did not have some features that were standard on the 20V. We bought the 20V because it met our needs and I assume the same is true for the Z1 and the folks who have purchased it.

Since 2008, the Z1 has definitely been updated with features that are available for it that do not exist in the old tried and true 20V as seen in the 2010 models. Some of the features these are snap in/out carpet, digital instrumentation, improved interior layout and aesthetics including recessed side storage and safety handles and the Alpha Z tower to name a few. The interior of the Z1 has been updated significantly since it's introduction in 2008 and has morphed from a nice ride in 2008 to a great ride in 2010.

My original point was if passenger count is a main concern then a 22VE or RZ2 would be better choices if they fit the budget. Since 2008 Tige has updated the initial Z1 release and it is definitely a great choice in it's market niche but 10 passengers verses 9 would not excite me as much as the 22VE with 14 passenger capability. I guess it is all a matter of what the budget will bare and of course personal choice. No matter what Tige

I cannot wait to see the new 20' model that replaces the 20V when it comes out in the 2011 model year.

x2. As I have indicated the 2011 20V boat is a major re-work based on what Tony has said to me. We shall see but I like the dash on my 20V and the layout with exception to lack of handrails in cockpit and that the bow is darn small.

My 18 1/2 ft FourWinns had a bigger bow area with equivelant storage and seating for 8. 2 in bow, 2 in buckets and 4 on rear bench. It had sport package with a sundeck over motor and storage on both sides of motor.

Our 20V It meets our needs and is a blast to drive. Chocolate Labs love the Swim Platform.

I have mine on market because of employment and economy and with cluster headaches I don't get the time I would like on boats. Even though I am selling I won't give the boat away to just sell it. This may change but we are hoping and coping

I am stuck with a 20' boat due to storage issues and since the kids are grown and leading their own lives we typically will take two couples out with us or 6-7 skiers/boarders So we have enough room for what we do. At 53 life has slowed down a little

Goo dpoints listed by Money Pity for sure. The Z1 just SEEMS a lot larger to me for some reason. IDK why.
Also hear often that the Z1 makes a killer surf wake, the 20V is acceptable, but it wouldn't hurt to have it bigger!

Rumor is a pickel fork 20v with 2k in ballast available. Just a rumor.
