    Overheating

My boat overheats in the lake in about 20 minutes. Runs fine when hooked up to a water hose at the house. Please help. Is there a pump between the intake and the hose connection that isn't drawing the water in?

When is the last time the impeller was changed?

          Impeller

After it overheated the 1st time I took it to the lake, I was told that it was probably the impeller. I just bought this boat from a guy in FL and we took it out before I brought it to KY. It ran great and he said he has never had an overheating problem. He recently had serviced it an replaced the impeller. I looked at the impeller yesterday and it looked brand new.

If the impeller is new. Maybe some debries. How long did you run it on the hose? Does it have a sea strainer?

I ran it yesterday for 30 minutes and ran it today for 30 minutes before we left for the lake, the temperature never exceeded 180. The hose before and after the impeller are clear of debris. I also closed the valve and ran water back through the intake hole with no problems.

Good chance a boat from FL has a strainer, if not, it may have some crap clogging the trans cooler.

Sorry, I don't know if it has a sea strainer. Where would I find it?

If you did all of that you would have noticed a sea strainer.

Where is the trans cooler. The motor is a marine power GM6.0 Vortec 6000 and has a radiator.

It should be in the intake water hose between the scoop and the V-drive. Looks like a see-through canister with a filter/screen.

Closed cooling system. I know nothing about that. Off topic: what lake are you going to?
