    01 21v limp mode?

I was out on the lake on July 4th, I got in the water and the boat was running good and then out of nowhere it slowed right down to 15mph and 3k rpm. I stayed anchor'd for most of the day and on the way back to the ramp it still wouldn't go over 15mph and then out of nowhere it started going faster and then dropped back down 2 mins later. I checked the throttle cable and that looks to be operating as it should be, the engine sounds good, but thats about all I've had time to check out. Any other ideas or help would be appreciated.

I’m sorry, I don’t have a solid answer for you, but 15mph at 3k rpm sounds like a serious mis-match??? I also have a 2001 21v and it cruises pretty good at 3k rpm. You sure the rpm gauge is good?

No worries. Generally it runs much faster at that rpm but that's all it would do. Like I said in the post, on the way back to the ramp it sped up and then slowed back down. The rpm guage is good. I tried full throttle and it would not pick up and go anymore

Bump. Anyone have a similar issue?

Do you have perfect pass installed.

No I do not. I checked the throttle linkage and it works and has no kinks in it

Check for fuel issues. Check pressure while running and go from there. Could be fuel filter or pump. Was it missing any?

No I didn't notice a miss while running

Strange for sure.... Check coil, distributor cap and rotor too... I remember having a weak coil one time but cannot recall the exact symptoms. Hope this is an easy fix. Are you pretty mechanically savvy or have someone that can go out with you to see what’s going on? Have the ability to run on the land? Unfortunately, I have had issues repeating performance issues when the boat is not actually under load so you may need to do some diagnosing in the water. Definitely report back some of your findings here. Some smart dudes around here (not me) but I usually find some good starting points that lead to success.

I need to find my fake a lake to test out of water. Im pretty mechanically inclined just more used to diesels than I am with gas motors, but hell its all nuts and bolts for the most part. I did do the cap and rotor about a year and a half ago but i will double check that.

My thoughts are fuel delivery. As I told someone on another post, remove the fuel pickup tube out of the tank and see if the little mesh filter is blocked. Yours sounds like a fuel delivery issue.
                      Oh Yeah!

10-4 that will be added to the list. Thank you

I had a very similar sounding issue and would have sworn some sort of fuel issue. Ended up being the throttle position sensor on the throttle. I do have a 2006 Tige 20V.

Interested in what you found. If my 21V takes on enough water the volt gauge will drop to 12 and the boat will run terrible. Thinking the belt starts slipping and the alt isn't turning. Still trying to come up with solutions. Next on the list is adding another pump to the rear of the bilge to try and keep the belt dry.

Thanks Gumby! I already did your number one. I had some old floor that I cut into the shape of the vent then bolted it through the grading that helped a lot. I haven't been adding ballast because my boat isn't wanting to come out of hole with weight. Do you remember the stern length of the shaft seal? I know it's 1 1/8 but not the length. I'm troubleshooting the engine Need to put a new tac on to see if I really am only spinning up to 3400 RPM. I'm heading to the Tige Dealer 3 hours away to try and figure out my issues.
