If I remember right, if the engine is a mercruiser the buzzer will go off in a few seconds without the engine being started; if its a Marine Power it will not shut off until the engine is started. That is what my dealer told me when I went from the 20V to the 24V and went from Mercruiser to MP. The red light should go off when you are not idleing. As far as the water temp, I will leave that to the others

AS it was explained to me by the dealer I bought from-
The beeps at start up tell you when the fuel injection is to pressure. You should not start the boat until after the 3 beeps. Then, the alarm goes off when you fire it up. The light is as mentioned previsouly. If you liten closely when you turn the key on, you can hear the pressure being put to the fuel system and after the 3 beeps the pressure building noise will be gone.
That's how it was explained to me and that's what I have always done. IDK for sure if it's right or wrong, but it has seemed to work for me thus far.
DO NOT PUT THE BOAT IN GEAR OUT OF WATER!!!!!!!
This wasn't mentioned earlier as you were talking about it. Not sure if you know this or not, but you will fry your bearings on the prop shaft if you run it in gear out of water.Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
