red warning light and buzzer 20v tige (with photos)

hi all im new to this site just wondering if any one can help me with a problem....

i just bought a nice 2003 20v 240h ..we took for a test drive and every thing was fine except for a slight squeek for about 1 min after starting then would go away so i didnt really think big of it at the time...

a few days later i then realised that the water pump seemed seized or sticky(the squeeky noisy belt) so i replaced the impella which seemed in average condition (rubber seemed cracked/warn), which seemed to fix the stiffness and squeeky belt....was happy about that

but now after the impella was changed i was flushing the engine then after about 10 mins the red light and buzzer came on(the one right infront of you bellow the speed dials) ...so i switched off the engine....now it always seems to be buzzing when i go to start...

what i wana know is what is the red light on the dash for is it for overheating or is it for the v drive oils/ trans oils

like i said i am new to these boats and would really like some advice or infomation.

    any help much appreciated ;]

(PS thought id add some photos, )

I have a 2000 22i and the VERY loud beeping goes off every time I start the boat. But it stops after about three beeps. If it stops I would think it is normal just letting you know the system is functioning, but if it continues then something is wrong. I had mine go off when the boat overheated, but that is all mine seems to be associated with (at least to my knowledge).

the buzzer turns off but the light stays on...probably going to take it to marine specalist to put his computer diagnostics on it...

      any other ideas guy/girls??

        Transmission Fluid Pressure Light

The light could be from the transmission fluid pressure sensor. I have such a light that is on any time the transmission is in neutral. The light goes out when in gear and above idle.

          Yes,

One last thought is if you take it in to have it looked at, take it to a Tige dealer. I made the mistake of going to an independent once. He charged me $300 to fix something that he never did. I ended up fixing it in the end. Long story short is the dealer knows your boat best.

That is correct. The red light only appears when you are in neutral and should go away once you are over 1000rpms. I was told by Tige that the transmission fluid pressure sensor light turns on when you have low pressure (which is only at idle). This was normal on older Tiges.

You should here a loud buzz only when you first start the engine. It shouldnt stay on more than 2-3 seconds after you have started the boat.

If its still buzzing after you have the engine running than its possible that your engine is overheating. Take a look at the temp gauge it shouldn't be over 175 ( I think). Most likely you dont have water circulating or have some type of blockage. The possible reasons is that a piece of your impeller maybe stuck some where in the raw water intake hoses causing water not to flow properly.

            Hope that helps.

ok so i have replaced water pump impella and thermostat .......light is still staying on

i might try to put it in gear and see if its the low oil pressure in gearbox

might take it to the specialist i think......

Is the light still staying on even while driving over 1000-2000 rpms?

ok when i start up kicks over every thing smooth now no squeeky belt anymore ....but watr temp gauge seems to go up alittle high shold the temp be sitting on 175 because mine goes up and hovers between 175 and 195.... but the weird thing is that in about 5 seconds after being on about 175 it goes past 200, it did that a couple of times but then would fluxuate between those temps is this a faulty sensor..???????

what does your boats temp sit on??

                      any help much appreciated....

I think you either have a blockage in the cooling system most common problem or a sensor issue. You need a temp gauge to test the water temperature to see if the sensor is reading correctly. This is a little difficult to do on a boat. I still lean towards something in the system blocking flow. It is possible that your new impeller had a piece break off it after installation.

ok so today i stated boat with the water connected to see how it would go (kept at idle)..

the temp for the first 10 mins was fine on 175 (half way)and then sudenly the temp went up to max red (within a 5 second time frame)....to me this doesnt sound mechanical more sensor related to me as it was still just idleing the whole time ...what are your thoughts...?

                          regards jacob

Back to the light and horn.. that is common.. If I recall correctly, when I read the manual back in 2004, the light and buzzer should come on when you turn the key, and then the buzzer turns off once after a couple seconds. The light will stay on until it senses transmission fluid pressure which should be after you put it in gear and above idle speed.

Your temp problem to me sounds like a faulty sensor. The true test would be to run it on the water and see how it does. I'm not sure how you made your water connection on land, but if you did not have a steady flow of water coming out of your exhaust then you may have been starving the engine of cool water for cooling. I unfortunately did not pay attention to my temp gauge years ago when I had my first boat. It turned out to be a shot impellar, and I nearly toasted my engine. The temp would be fine when I was running the boat, but when I was idling, there was almost no water flow thru the engine.
