What is the better boat to buy?

Looking at an 06 20v with 150 hours on it or an 04 22v riders edition with 56 hours on it?

I love my 20v but, the extra room in the 22 would be a big plus.

        Ditto.

If you have space to store the longer boat and the 22V is a clean boat being 2 years older I would go with it if looks like it has been cared for. An 04 with 56 hours is like 9 hours a year or the computer was flashed and reset the hours. That is the case with my 20V.My computer was flashed due to a speedset issue and the boat had zero hours after getting flashed. I would ask where was the boat stored in the summer when not in use. If it was at a dock in the water you may want to check for blisters at the water line and below.

If this is a private sale I would look over the 22V to insure that steering is smooth and that the Vdrive oil and engine oil have been changed yearly. A boat that sits idle still needs this done because moisture will get into systems. If a maintenance log is available take a look at it. The rubber hoses should be okay but like a car they also can dry rot. Just do a few basic checks and you should have a great deal on the 22V if it has been cared for.

If you buy either boat it may be advisable to have the impellers changed. It may cost $30 or a bit more for the impeller but if you are a DIY it is money well spent. Impellers age and need periodic replacement.

If dealer sale I would verify how it was stored and what type of inspections they have done as well as the maint log. Impeller issue is the same.

I have seen both boats and they are both in perfect condition. The 04 has perfect pass where the 06 doesn't. The 06 has board racks and wet sound tower speakers. The 04 comes with everything (2 wake boards, surf board, fat sac, ropes and tubes). The 06 only comes with a wake board. Price on the 04 22v is 30000 and the 06 20v is 28000.

The PP is a 1000.00+ option that you will definately want to add. 20v is nice but I would go with the 2 extra feet of room, dont think you will regret that. As long as the maintenance is equal.

The 20v is a great boat for a small group of boarders/family.It is more probable to fit in a garage and it has some of the newer interior vinyl design and dash.
The 22v obviously has 2 more feet which is huge in any boat. Wakes are going to be larger and tons more storage. The only downfall on the 22v is the interior is dated and not as nice looking as the 06 20v. If the interior is a huge deal, search for an 05 22v and they should have the newer vinyl design and a different tower.
PP is a must, unless you have a really experienced driver or if your not too picky on speed flucuation, so take that into consideration when dealing over the price.
Also pay attention to the 22v when on the test drive, some had a tendency to list towards the driver side.

There is a very high probability that the 06 has a MP engine, and therefore could be Drive-by-Wire. This may effect the options available for an aftermarket cruise. It may be cheaper to just order a Tige Speed Set controller and plug'n play.

On thing that bothers me is a 6 year old boat with only 56 hours. So give it a good once over.

Is there that big of a difference between an 04 22v and 05 22v other then tower and interior?

Not that I can remember off the top of my head. I seem to remember you could purchase a different v-drive tranny that was and additional charge in 04, most people opted for them and I think they were painted blue. The 05 tower had a little less shake to it, nothing big.
The hull is the same, thats the most important thing.
I really enjoyed the PP in my 05 but found the Tige set in the 06's a pain because they didnt have the digital LCD screen and you had to use the gauge. Either way both great boats. Keep looking though, used boat deals are still out there.
