Thanks for the updated pics. I assume the strap retracts in the handle area when not in use when launching the boat? I was just going to buy removable straps instead of those. As of now, I keep my boat in storage at the ramp, so I might use them 2-3 times a year when traveling.

The sheepskin cover from WalMart is a great idea, I was just going to get some cheap bathing towels and use that. Let me know how they hold up, but for 2 bucks who cares.

Yes the straps are spring loaded and retract into the buckle just like a seatbelt when not deployed
