    Restoring Teak Swim Step..

I have an '01 21V Riders Edition and the teak swim step is completely white due to sun damage. I was looking for some threads on re-doing the step and was looking for any tips...If you can give me some pointers on sand paper grits and stain and varnish that would be great!

You want to avoid sanding at all costs. Starbrite has a three step restoring system that works great. You can get it online or west marine (less than $50). Sanding is long process starting at 80 grit, then 100g,then 120g, then 180g, and finishing with 240 grit. I have done numerous decks this way, but since starbrite came out with their system I have only sanded one. That was because the grian had eroded.

I had great results using Snappy Teak - it's probably gone up, but it was around $25 a couple of years ago. There was enough in the kit to treat mine for two seasons and last summer I gave it a friend to do his. When it started to fade out I would just coat the deck with teak oil. Good Luck!

I just use teak oil on mine. Put on the oil and the color comes back, quick and easy.

I am going to "arma-gaurd". I was over talking to the guys at line X and they can do any colour and even put the tige emblem in it. I will have it done in the next couple weeks and will post some pics. They said they can put a light grit in it as well, just enought to help with some traction and not enough to hurt your news when you jump up. Supposed to last forever and no more oiling!

The teak cleaner with the oil, as stated, works great . . . I would also recommend that you tighten the screws underneath to make sure the wood does not warp over the years . . . you'll find that these screws (about 40) will come loose and you want to keep them tight . . . good luck . . .
