I will say that I think they are just a false wall, but I did not get a chance to really look the boat over. We spent all day waiting for a 10 min surf run, and almost missed this ride as well, so I was just quickly looking for a place to stow the board so we could get under way when I noticed the wall between the v-drive locker and under-seat area.

I have a Z1 with almost 200 hours on it. Lots of surfing and wakeboarding. Surf wave sacked out is incredible. For wakeboarding I think it needs the ballast for a pretty good wake. Weight it in the front more (60-40) which is easier said then done with the small bow. Only complaint is that I can't seem to get the wake to clean up until I go above 21 mph. I ride around 22-23 so its ok, but for newer people I don't like how washed out the wake at speeds under 20 mph. My buddies vride has a clean wake at 16 mph. But thats my only complaint and open to any suggestions. Also, I think it puts out a wider wake than the nautique. I ride at 65' and my buddy who rides at level below pro will only go to 70 feet. I've ridden behind his nautique and we will ride 70-75'.
