Geez not vinyl problems again. I am sorry to see that it is happening to other owners also.

I am having mine fixed by an upholstery shop in the spring to fix what is not covered by Warranty. I believe I am down to just parts warranty even though I took possession in April of 2008. Since only the material is covered I am having a well respected shop do the work.

My seams are pulling on the cushions you step on when getting in and out of boat. Because of nightmare issues last season I have only 45 hours or so on boat and even though we tried to distribute the load using those square cushions we still have seams pulling but they can be fixed without replacing the vinyl. The long cushions behind the driver and the one behind observer seat are the ones that have failed.

No one is allowed to stand on sundeck or seats and we are thinking we will have people get on board via the swim platform and then slide on their butts into the boat.

We are trying to come up with how we will get our 95 lb lab and 45lb lab puppy on board with out going their nails damaging the 34 oz vinyl.

      Sort of disappointing.

In case anyone hasn't seen it, the newer Tiges have a feature where the back corner cusions easily pull out to reveal a textured step for entry and egress. This takes care ripping at the seems that is seemingly unavoidable from feet. IMO, my cousin's Malibu has some of the most gorgeous vinyl I've seen and it still ripped in that same spot. I thought it was a very practical solution by Tige to fix the whole issue. As far as the quality goes, I noticed in my research that it has improved light years. While my wife and I still liked the vinyl on the new Malibus better, Tige seemed to be catching up quickly with their new models, and it was only a piece of a much larger pie, dominated by Tige of course.

                  Thats great news.
Supra also has addressed issue with a walk through underneath the starboard sun pad so this issue affects many manufacturers.

                  Long live any Tige

Tige has done that as well. The weird thing IMHO was that the top of the starboard locker was a hard walk through and the pad that went with it siply wedged inbetween the pad over the engine and deck? For sunbathing purposes I guess. I can't remember what model I saw that on, maybe the 09 Z1? Anyway, that still doesn't solve the problem of people putting their feet on that corner seat as they scoot their butts across the stern. That is why I'm glad Tige built in that step and removable pad in the corner.

                      2007 20V stiches not Tige problem !

After getting boat put away and all removable cushions pulled out and stored in basement for the winter I took the ones that had problems amd went to uphostery shop and they repaired them in about 5 hours.

It was not a problem with the vinyl or stitch's breaking. All they did was pull vinyl off the backing board and cushion and some how tightenened the stiches. When I asked how that could happen they said that the seats in my boat need to be used more so that instead of loosening that they remain tight. This is one of the negatives of not getting time on the boat. They thought the vinyl was high quality as well as the thread but since the boat has not had many hours in the sun since it was built in Dec 2006 they said my issue was caused by not enough use. When it warms up in spring I will have them re-stretch and fasten other areas that have stretched.

I have used this shop for a few years working on my cars convertible tops and auto seats. They also repair a lot of boat seats and custom interiors so their feedback gave me some peace of mind.

Tige and keep up the cool R&D and quality construction. As to the 20V IMO it is a firat in class 20' boat.

                        goose 69,
I'm had the same experience! I had a 1985 sea ray and the vinyl only started to crack/rip after 15 years. Back then i used commet, ajax, cleaners what ever on it. Could someone suggest/recommend as to What is the best vinyl out there.

I have lots of issues with my vinyl. In my opinion the interior in my 01 Moomba is better quality than my 08 RZ4
