Thanks, I do have the 537 prop on my 09 tige 22ve. Motor is pcm ces 5.7L ex-343. RPM chart says minimum full load 4800, preferred 5000, and max 5200. I mainly will surf and use about 2000 lbs of ballast.

Just wondering if there is a prop to reduce the hole shot for surfing and would a 3 blade reduce the prop wash into the surf wake?

TBO, your best is to call the folks at ACME and get their recommendation on a prop for what you are trying to achieve. "Prop-wash" in the surf wake is typically due to weight distribution or too slow a speed and not the prop. If the prop is slipping, you would no it, and up-pitching would increase the chances of prop slip.

If you come up with a prop recommendation from ACME, let me know ASAP. I'm placing an order on Monday afternoon to ACME.

Thanks for the advice and did more searches reading articles. The things I read is 3 blades are more for the skiers and 4 blades are for slower speeds and ballast for wake boarders and surfers. If anyone likes 3 blade props for surfing I would like to know.

I routinely run my '99 2100v with 1500 lbs or more. ACME 525 is the way to go if you have a black Walter V-Drive unit. You can't go wrong with the advice the guys gave you.

You may want to check on this. I have a 4 blade prop and I am getting a 653 prop (3 blade) for wakeboarding and surfing. I was told my 4 blade was for skiing, which is what we did years ago when the boat was bought.

            Hey Dogbert,
I was also told I needed a 525 last year but couldn't swing the money for a prop last year. Called again this year and Acme suggested the 653, I wonder what the difference is.

Here is a story that tells a little about 3 vs 4 blade. ACME did offer me a trial for a 3 blade. I need to know the gear ratio but the boat is put away and will look in the spring.

I'm 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% sure it's a 1.5:1 ratio. I dont know any tow boats using a 1:1, or anything else anymore in their V-drives.

Check out my thread on the ACME 525. I went from a 4-blade OJ to the ACME 3-blade on my dealer's recommendation. You can see by the prop's surface area that it's going to push more water.

As for the V-Drive unit, if it's black, it's 1:1, if it's blue, it's 1:1.5 (w/ tranny reduction). The recommendation is to go 3-blade for a direct drive (which is what my V-Drive is closest to w/ a 1:1 ratio) and a 4-blade for the V-Drive w/ the tranny reduction. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I think chpthril mentioned that most newer V-Drives will have 1:1.5, but since yours is a 2100v, the rule of thumb I mentioned in the previous paragraph applies. What year is your boat?
