    Best prop for weighted 21V

OK, I put 1500 lbs in my Tige 2100V when we board and normally it gets up on plane pretty well- except when there's more than 4 adults in the boat, then it's a slug. What prop would be better? I have a 13x 13 now. Thanks, Will

if you have a 13x13, you have a 1:1 v-drive. So you are going to want either an acme 525, which is a 13x11.5. I have this for my backup and it works well weighted. But if you really want a hole shot you got to go with an acme 911, which is a 13x10.5. This is the animal. I have run 2500lbs with 8 dudes and it planes pretty easy for that weight, plus my boat is a 23v. I would recommend it.

what other side effects are you seeing running the 13x10.50? Like top speeds differences? gas mileage?

To be honest, the 525 got me a higher top speed then my 13x13, with a way better hole shot. The 911 lost about 2 mph over the 525, but I'm still hitting 40mph. I never cruise wide open anyways.

As far a fuel consumption, I think with the 911 I'm getting a bit better gas mileage, but mainly when I'm loaded up. Without weight i'm not to sure. Gas is one of those things I don't pay much attention too, because if I was worried about that I wouldn't be putting 3000lbs of extra weight in the boat. IMHO...

I guess that makes sense...But where is the fun in that. Just run out and let somebody waste there gas pulling you back.

Not sure which prop would be best for you, but I did discover a break though the other night. I rented a Upper Control Arm Ball Joint Puller the other night from my local auto store. The C-Clamp looks like the clamp prop puller type (I have the harmonic puller, so not sure if its exactly the same). I lined the puller up on my boat, and it would definitely work! I think I am going to rent one when I need to change the prop, and save the harmonic for emergency purposes.

I know I posted this somewhere else here, but I was just so freaking excited when I figured it out!

I had a similar problem. Called the guys at ACME, and they worked their magic. You'll need your engine HP rating, serial #, etc. before you call them, weight when the boat is really loaded down, and the elevation you do most of your boating. I bought my boat in AZ at near sea level and I couldn't pull up a slalom skier at 5,000 ft. elevation. Now I have a 39mph top end and a stump-pulling hole shot.

sbnfan, My 22ve has to much hole shot for surfing. Can a 3 blade help smooth is out and reduce torque? Might sound like a weird question but when I have to put someone in the seat who doesn't know, they give me too much power every time and all the time.

What engine do you have, and what altitude are you at? Your boat probably came with an ACME 537, but some dealers will change them before customer delivery. If you are not sure what prop is on your boat, the size and model # will be stamped on the hub. To reduce the hole shot, you would want to up-pitch, but need to know what you got now in order to make a recommendation for a different prop. My Give a little instruction before turning the captains chair over to a newbie and use the Speed-Set. The only reason I would suggest to go down in pitch would be to pick up some top-end for foot'n.

The motor is the PCM short block v-8 343 horse FI 3000 feet. When I was typing this I was wondering if taps all the way up would would be a suggestion. The current prop is a 4 blade and its huge. Should get the boat back in a few days and will look. If it is the 537 should I even think of a change?

I have tried the instruction but doesn't seem to work and find myself to bite my tounge later so I don't say anything stupid. Surfing my feet just feel like they are up against the wall plowing water causing the rope to sling shot out of my grip. Drivers that know it feels nothing like that. I have the speed set but it still takes off fast until the speed is reached.

The main reason I hesitate to recommend up-pitching in your case, is because there will be an increased chance of prop slip and cavitation. These 2 conditions are why many change props to a lower pitch when they are running added ballast for surfing and wake boarding. The lower pitch adds in hole-shot, holding speed, but also increases "bite" which reduces the chances of prop-slip and cavitation.

CHP has answered everything the same way I would have. We really need to find out what prop you have on your boat. What year is your boat? It sounds like you have an 09 model since you have a PCM? The PCM is a little different in HP and Torque than the Marine Power but not much. Are you using ballast? If you have the top end numbers that helps also, what I mean by that is what is your max RPM and speed at that RPM. You might have the best prop but you may not. What do you do most with your boat Surf, Board, or Ski single or double.

Props are like shifting gears you have to put the vessel in the gear that works best for your situation unfortunately you don't have a gear shifter you have to switch the gears around with out a shifter IE: change the prop.
