Fox 21v perfect pass newbie!!

Hey guys, im new to boats in general though iv learned alot getting mine ready the last few months. My question is my perfect pass is hard to get adjusted were we want and not always very consistant.. IS this normal? I wouldnt normally ask but there seems to be far more expensive systems than mine and im sure there made for a reason. But yes its hard to adjust and even harder with full fat sacs and ruff water. thanks guys

So what exactly is it doing?

Is it holding speed at all? Are you sure you are setting it up correctly? Within what range is it holding the speed if at all?

20 mph is the hardest to hold speed at. If i go to 23 + then usually its fine but thats faster than we want to ride. Sometimes its ok until i adjust my taps then it dropes out of speed. Sometimes it take forever to get it set, its just not consistant..

i could be not doing it correclty i guess i just get it were i want it and hit and hold the set button until it tries to set there

Do you know what version it is? Is it a single line display or does it just have 2 buttons and an LED?

what year is your boat? on mine you set it while its in neutral and it takes over once you throttle near speed.

its a 01, its just two buttons and a led so im pretty sure theres no way to set it in neutral, we just hit the set button when were at the speed we want.

Yeah thats right. And thats all that you can do. When adding ballast the attitude of the boat changes and the perfect pass settings often need to be changed to hold a consistent speed with the added weight. Your version is just the cruise control version and doesnt have any of these settings (at least that I know of).

So in order for it to hold a more constant speed you will have to buy a new Perfect Pass System. Perfect Pass Stargazer for Mechanical engines. It should cost somewher ein the neighborhood of $1200

A re-prop may be another possibility. Depending on how much ballast is being run, it may be enough to cause the engine to lug and the prop to slip and cavitate more. Heck, even the right prop with a couple of dings will cause this.

What prop (size or # stamped on hub) do you have, what engine, and how much ballast? You wont regret updating your PP, but the correct prop is like a night and day diff as well.

You may also run using RPM versus MPH. I think RPM is more accurate. Just a thought. Just have to ask but PP also sold a cruise and was not meant for towing. Just a thought also.

Yours cant.

Yours is just cruise control. You drive the speed, set it, it holds....to the best of its ability.

thats kinda what i figured, Im reconsidering the different prop idea but thats on another thread so ill follow it there thanks again guys!
