just recently purchased this boat and ive taken it out the past three weekends and everything has worked great until this last weekend. when boarding we always have the taps turned up to the wake position and when shutting it off to change riders and starting back up, it always goes straight to the wake position, not sure if this is normal or not. matter of fact, anytime you shut the boat off and restart it, it goes to the wake position. well, last weekend, the gauge started out in the slalom position and wont go up to the wake. while cruising around 30, i did notice that the boat was jumping out of the water like the taps system was turned all the way up and it was also making a wake like it was turned up. then later on while driving, the gauge started working and showing that the taps was all the way up in the wake position so i pushed the button to turn it down and it went down. but as soon as i let go it went right back up and wouldnt stay down. anybody have any ideas on where i should start to look for my problem? thanks

03 23v riders edition taps problem

I have a Taps2 on my 2004.
The taps 2 uses an electric motor. Every time you turn the boat on and off, it will go to the up position (Wakeboarding) it does this, as it needs to go home every time the power is off. (Home is what they call a starting point) If the actuator did not do this, then it would be very difficult to sink the gage with the taps plate. By going home, the computer know where the plate is when the power comes back on. As you move it up and down the computer keeps track of its location. Once the power is off, the computer will lose this info.
Hope this gives you a better understanding of how it should work.Tige, it's a way of life!
