22v double ups

    22v double ups

    Question for my fellow 22v owners/drivers-

    Sometimes, when I'm loaded down with weight (4+ ppl in the back) and a 540lb sack in the front), when I'm pulling a right hand double up- the prop starts sucking air as I make a my turn back towards the wake. What are y'all doing to correct this?

    I encounter this here and there on my friends 04 22V but we don't do anything about it really. It only happens on tight double up turns and it happens when coming through the turn. Try taking a wider approach, that seems to set the keel of the boat properly.

    It kind of sounds like a cavitation issue when we encounter it. Its happened only when we have weight in it that I know of (1300 pounds of ballast and a few people).

      yeah- its cavitation (have experienced this in diff ways w/ PWC). Anyways... I figured taking a wider turn would help. Also, slowing down seems to set the arse-end back down in the water. I'm wondering if more weight in the back would have a positive effect on keeping the prop hooked up?

        I wouldnt think so because we run 2 350s in the back and 3-4 people in the back with a 600 up front. I could be wrong though. Slowing down could also help it.

                wider turn trey... else you can "pump" the wheel (meaning as you turn you let off then back on , off , on, etc to help with the cavitation)... you can also try speeding up just before you make your tight turn.

                another thing you can also do to make a larger double up is slow down on the cross route (the path you are going to come back across). This will make the wake a little larger, so that when you make your turn and come back through it, you get a PHAT double up

                  hahha..yep Jeff we use to do that all the time in my boat and the double ups would just swallow the rider. We would slow down to 16-18 mph while making the turn and then speed up.

                  Looked quite funny actually because it was so big and you could only see half the rider (ok i am exagerating)

                    Double Up!

                    I'm a new Tige owner & also first inboard. Can someone explain how to do a double up in a 03' 22V. Need to get use to the handling of a large inboard.
