    battery switch

Rookie question, When using my boat should i leave the battery switch turned to both batteries? I turn the switch off at the end of the day but should i be running the boat on 1 battery.

In regards to your current setup, it really deosnt matter whether you run in 1, 2, or Both. If you want to charge a specific battery while running, you need to have the switch either on that battery or on Both. The main thing is to not have it on Both when anchored and playing the tunes as this will draw from both batteries.

Once you install the ACR, you can leave it in 1 (or 2 if thats your starting battery). The ACR will allow the charging of both batteries regardless of what position the switch is in.

chpthril's right. Also, I've found that if both of your batteries are not evenly charged, it's harder to start when set to both. It's best to just switch it to the one you weren't using to start the boat. I've got just the battery switch with 2 starter batteries. I usually just leave it on one and if I've been anchored and cranking tunes, I switch to the other battery to start the boat and then switch it back.

I'd also recommend an onboard battery charger if you store your boat where you can plug it in. This will insure that your batteries are fully charged every time you go out. It also makes them last longer because most automatic onboard chargers will do a trickle maintenance charge once the batteries are fully charged.

Which ACR would you recommend? Right now I have house battery and battery for amps etc switched via a perco. I am looking going with a Sea Systems ACR but I am wondering which fills my need. I don't run with tunes cranked and unless we are on a secluded sand bar I keep the volume low to mid-range.

I normally run in the all position and flip to battery one periodically.

Once homs I put the Perko at 2 and trickle charge the batteries.

Blue Sea 7610-Si for just the ACR or the ADD-A-Battery for ACR and switch.

I though you got an isolator last year?

No, I was unable to install one last year due to my clusters. As soon as I bent down to wire something my head hurt like the dickens so I put in a Perko and for the limited use I had last year it worked out but I don't want to worry what position I am in when I head south in July. I just looked at the 7610 wiring and install info and it seems straight forward and looks like it will work with the Perko pretty seemlessly.

Thanks for the answer as always.

Which Perko did you use I see there are several different ones? Do you know the part#?

The ACR can actually be used without a switch, or with a simple ON/OFF or a 1/2/BOTH/OFF switch. I like to use it with the multi-battery switch so it gives you the flexibility to start the boat off the "House" bank if needed.

The Blue Sea ACR instructions are pretty generic and, if I remember right, is shown with the ON/OFF. The ACR is so simple and flexible, it can be wired in so many ways, it will fit almost anyone's setup.

Look for one that is a 1/2/BOTH/OFF type that has at least a 300A rating so you can run the starter through it.

No I don't remember the number. It is either off, Batt 1 selected, All selected ,or just Batt2 selected.

                              Good Morning all.

Well I got a pleasant surprise last night when I was searching for new/used 2007 20Vs for sale to get a general feel for what mine might be worth. Mine was an end of season purchase which unfortunately clocks deep depreciation even though by use it was brand new in 2008 but a model year back and almost 2 years off of Tige's final QA tests. .

I was shocked when thru a general goggle search I found numerous postings of my 20V that where what someone might look at buying their first inboard. Color be darned it presented well.

Anyway thanks to whomever plucked info out of my Tigeowners classified adds section and putting it up on WakeSideRides. I like the look and the segmentations WakeSideRides.com uses when the are showing a boat.

Only thing I could not find is the contact person. Any way heck of a good job in identifying my boat and it's setup. I will grab a copy from work.

Only thing that puzzles me is how would a prospect get in touch? No matter.

Now back to regular TigeOwners broadcasting.
