    Battery Question

What series battery should i be using on a 2005 22v for deep cycle? Also since i currently have a dual battery set up and both batteries are starter batteries what side passenger or drivers does the deep cycle go on? I have a Battery switch battery 1 Battery 2 Off. It seems that alot more wiring is hooked to the battery on the passenger side of the boat, the drivers side just has 2 cables going to it. As always thanks for the responses. Certain accessories need to be wired straight to the battery (especially the bilge pump). If you do mix battery types, I highly suggest a battery isolator or keep them completely separate. You don't want to mix them on the same circuit (which will happen with just a battery switch because there's usually an All/Both selection as well).

Your deep cycle won't have the cranking amps to turn the motor over.

On my boat, I also just have a battery switch with 2 starter batteries. I added an onboard charger that I plug in when I'm not using the boat. This does a good job of keeping my batteries fresh. I like this set-up because I've had my starter battery fail on me and that way I always have a backup. I rotate which one I use for starting every so often.

Your 05 22V has room in the port side storage for 2 group 27 marine batteries, one deep-cycle and one cracking.

I would yank one of the existing cranking batts, the oldest or the one that looks to be the weakest when tested, and drop in a group 27 deep cycle. With the Perko style 1/2/both/off switches and a Blue Sea ACR, the system can be wired to crank the engine off the deep-cycle in an emergency. Having them both in the same storage will save on battery cable $$$. Shorter runs means smaller ga wire.

If you want to keep both the starter batteries on the switch and add a deep-cycle with an ACR just for the stereo, that works too. Its actually a tad easier to wire, just requires longer wire runs cause the battery will need to be located on the other side of the boat from the other two.
