Looking for guidance on adding ballst to the 2000 2300V. We usually have 5 in the boat while one is behind the boat. One or two may be up front. I am thinking of a pair up sacks up front under each seat. Any ideas for bigger air?????????

My weight set up is a 600 fat sac (filled as much as possible) in the bow walkway and 250 -260 on each side of the engine. With 3 - 4 people in the boat the wake is big. I usually run at 23 -24 mph. -
I run 400 lbs of lead in the bow, and 200 lbs of lead under the side seats, then fat sacks in the lockers. Either full if 2 or 3 people, or half full if more people. TAPS to suit. Wake just keeps getting bigger, but hole-shot suffers. I ride 23 at 80 or 85 feet.Comment

Weighting of Boat
One thing to remember about weighting a boat. All boats since before 1985 16 feet or longer have been required to have enough flotation to keep the boat from sinking even if full of water. Most will float with the top of the boat level with the water surface. This requirement is with no more than the maximum load limit.Originally posted by exphotoguy

This load limit is with people on board. A boat rated for 10 people is supposed to not sink with 10 people in the boat. However, a human body only requires about 10 to 15 pounds of flotation to stay afloat. So if a boat is swamped those 10 people only add about 100-150 pounds.
When you use water for weight that water effectively becomes neutral weight if the boat should ever take on enough water to sink. The water in the bags has no effect on the weight limitation or floatation of the boat in swamped situation.
Lead is a different matter. Lead is still very heavy and does not become neutral bouyancy in the water.
If you ever get into a swamped situation and are using lead you will probably completely sink the boat. So use lead with caution. You may be placing yourself in a dangerous situation.Ray Thompson

Pretty wide, but I'm getting old and don't like to land in the flats. Riding at 80' mostly, but experiment with 85' every once in a while. No real problem with wash, but I probably bump the speed .5 or so. 80' at 23 with the ballast I mentioned is a pretty dialed in smooth and rampy but friendly wake.
Most of the full size fat sacs are about the same size. You can't really fill them too full because they're tucked under the seats towards the front of the hatch. No suggestions on brand of bag or pump. I got mine from Intensity/Masterline. Get two pumps. In my boat I installed 12V sockets and switches in both sides beside the engine box. I leave the pumps plugged in, just switch them on and off, and have to switch the hose out on the pump and sack. Hope that makes sense.
Before I got the lead, I would just fill sacks under the front seats with water, and TAP it to get the stern deeper. Works good, especially with some passengers, but without many people it can get a little washed out and really sensitive to speed.

I ride with the 700lb big bump up front and 2- 250lb fat sacs beside the engine.
