Mapquest is telling me going that way way is 30 miles longer then going up to 169 then down into echo bay

Is that faster.
I know some times the longer way can be faster because of the roads vs highways.

You might want to consider driving through the valley of fire. It cuts off alot of mileage if you're planning on going through Overton, there is a fee to enter the State Park, but it is a beautiful drive with all of the red rock formations. I actually think that it might be faster then either of the other two alternatives.

mAquest told me the opposite. Evilone's map is the shortest way. Last year I drove the other way to overton which I thought would be better due to more freeway. Time wise is about the same. AQlso depends if you are driving out the night before and where are you staying.

Mapquest isn't always right. In reality it wont matter. Just pick a route and enjoy the desert scenery on the way.

How come no one wants to listen to the guy that has his boat in a slip there ? The directions I posted are the best if you're coming from LA.

Not sure how fancy you people want to be but there is a bar that will do free drinks for one hour for parties of 10+ EDIT: Big caveat for some of you, Wells and Domestics only. Throw in wings, pizza and nachos it's $6 a head. Check the map to see if its something you guys would like to do.
