    2000 20i Gas Consumtion Estimates....

As you guys know, I just bought the 20i with a 315 HP Mercruiser (i think the boat weight is about 2500lbs). Tank capacity is 30 gals I believe. I realize it varies a lot based on boat load, speed, wind, etc...., but what should i expect for the approximate consumption per hour out on the lake for typical, recreational (ie - slow) skiing? Even a range would be great. Are we talking a 2 gallons an hour? More? The gauge is obviously undependable and I don't want to be really stupid and run out of gas in the middle of the lake. (My already skeptical wife would not be impressed!)

    Thanks.

Dry weight is 2800#'s, then add fuel, gear, tower, peeps, etc. The worst I get in my 22Ve is 6gph pulling 2 60" tubes with 2 big riders each (and yes I pull it from the wimpy pylon, talltigeguy ) So, for your boat, this would be a conservative, but safe, calculation. Yours should be far less as this is not the norm for us, but has been done.

I usually figure around 5 gals per hour in mixed use (wakeboarding, surfing, skiining, cruising, messing around).

I get 4-6 gph in my 24V under normal recreation. If I make any extended runs sightseeing it goes to about 7 - 10 gph
          Let it be!!!

I agree with you on that estimate. Got to hold the rpms to about 2800 to 3000 range on an extended cruise sightseeing to get the 7gph. Above 3000 rpms it just sucks it up like crazy.

too bad my tach doesn;t work

but it sounds like all things being equal, significantly better GPH if I don;t run wide open.
