    Swim Platform Problems

I have a Tige 21i R (2004?). My swim platfrom bracket is separating from the boat. Form the ski locker I can see the nut and bolt holidng it in place but cannot access it due to the gas tank. It appears that there is no washer or backing plate beneath the nut. The nut seems to be tightened aginst the fiberglass and pulling thorugh - hence the loose bracket.

Does anyone know how these brackets are installed? Should there be a washer or backing plate? I find it hard to beleive that the nut is meant to tighten against the fiber glass.

There should be a backing plate of some kind on almost anything mounted to the fiberglass.

Ours has 1 1/2" SS fender washers under each nut (4) and there are 3 brackets. It doesn't surprise me it's mounted that way. Our transom hooks had small washers under the nuts. They now have large plates. Glad I didn't tow anyone.

Thanks for the info. I'll be checking the ones on our boat.
