HOT glove box cover

I have a black cover on the passenger glove box that gets ridiculously hot as it absorbs heat from the sun. It's painful when I have to hold it open to fiddle with the radio.

Has anybody come up with a good solution to prevent glove box burn.

That's why I insisted on mine not being black. I had a black dash on my previous boat and would routinely burn myself on it.

You could try covering it with some sort other material. I believe the vinyl is just glued on there.

The newer ones have a hold open spring. You could add one of those.

I just tightened the screws on the hinge and now it stays open by itself

MIne is black metal and gets hot too. I thought about powder coating it but that's as far as I got with it. I just use the remote for the stereo as much as possible.

ITS PROBABLY THE BEST THING WE HAVE DONE!!


I think we got ours from West Marine for like $8. It has holes for screws but because the lid is so thin we superglued it and its held up fine.

since we're on the topic, my clove box cover for my 98 pre2100wt is broken and cracked. I know that nobody is gonna have 98 glove box cover sitting on their shelf but what is the last year they used that cover that i might be able to find?
