2001 22i Fueling Issue

Guys,

When I fill up my tank it pukes fuel everywhere......If I go really slow I can get gas in it but it still pukes a bit.....has anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing the vent line is clogged but I thought I'd ask for help before I start looking around

There's another thread dealing with this same issue....fueling Tigés is a pain, no matter the model. Search for 'fuel' and you'll have your answer.

I've had this issue with every boat I've owned where the gas tank is extremly flat and large. Just go slow.

Tall, I have the same boat and found that if I hold the nozzle at say "10 O'clock" that I usually can fill without overflow. This allows the tank to vent and the nozzle cutoff to operate correctly - if you hold the nozzle vertical the rubber splash guard seals the tank contributing to the back-flow. All this said some pumps are more sensitive than others and it may happen from time to time - fold up some paper towels and place them under the cap when filling just in case. Good luck!

Our boat had the same problem. The fuel/air separator the factory installed was an inexpensive unit and the vent hose was not routed properly. The vent hose is supposed to continuously rise from the tank to the thru-hull so fuel doesn't get trapped in the hose. I replaced the fuel/air separator and routed the hose properly and have had no problems since. Here are some links to articles you might find interesting -

Lol,

My friend just got a face full of gas helping me out at the pump. Go slow seemed to work for us just fine after that... as for the angles, well after a few geisers we decided to just stick to the low-flow method.

Ought to do the trick
