    320HP vs 340HP

I know that the 340 option isn't that expensive, but on a 20i from a performance and economy standpoint, does it make a noticeable difference? Probably going with a 2008 20i so any opinions would be appreciated.

Go with the 320hp and spent the money on something else, you will not miss the other 20hp. I have the 340hp in 22Ve and have driven a 22Ve with the 320hp, and with a little ballast and a couple of peeps, I couldn't tell the difference.

Everyone seems to really like the 340. I have an older (probably heavier) 22' Direct Drive. It is powered by a 290HP Merc. and I have no complaints about enough power. I think your are good with either.
Re-sale value might be better with the larger motor?

I think it's better to have more than you want rather than less than you need.
This is what we do for fun and if you get out there one day with a bunch of people and some ballast and you start to struggle you will be pissed!!! There is never too much power!! in my opinion....anytime in my life when I've cut corners for economy or money I was disappointed and wound up buying something else soon there after. I'm not saying you should get one with a blower or anything but check out what you see on everyone elses boat and choose for your self....I think but not positive that most people run the 340hp motor...in all of the boats. not trying to sound like a no it all just trying to help.

The 340 is the predominant powerplant in Tiges. This usually means that there will be fewer kinks and more experience when working them out.

I don't think you'll notice the difference in horsepower. Torque is more important and there's really not much difference from that perspective.

LadiesMan is right. I'd say about 90% of the boats are ordered with the 340hp.

Keep in mind, a $350 prop will bring back that lost hole shot in a weighted down boat.

Do I need a 4 blade? will it make things better...It has the factory 900# ballast? I'll probably wait intill I knock this one off, I'm bound to do it at some point!

No, and actually, Acme Props has a new 3-blade for the V drives that is working like a champ.

Knock on wood, I dont. I'm lucky that we boat 20 minutes from the house. So if I kill a prop, I only loose a day, not ruin a whole family vacation.

Me too but it could ruin the weekend and my dealer is like an hour and 15 away. I'll probably grab one just to have.
