As an owner of a 99 21i that lists at 94" beam and 2900lbs, how would its ski wake compare to the new 20i that is heavier and wider? I think my hull is a convex V but I am only 1 year into the whole tournament boat deal. mostly I get in it and turn the key and it starts and I am happy.

Bolo I wish I could answer that for you buddy, but this 2008 20i is the first Tige' I've had first hand course time with and I'm really impressed. I had the chance to go straight to the factory and have them not only walk me through the set-up of the 20i for a tournament, but also follow it up with an on the water session at a private lake so I've seen it at it's best.

As the boat designs have evolved I know they have (for example) increased the overall rocker of some of the hulls like the Z1 versus a 20V. Similar size, same target audience, different boat entirely. If any of the dealers participate on this forum I'm certain they could tell you when the hulls changed and how.

I'd imagine the 20i wakes have changed since 2003 with my boat...all I can say if with TAPS set at 0....a very nice skiing situation...TAPS at full...wakeboarder's heaven.

thanks anyway. Its not like I'm going to sell this boat anyway but after spending some time reading on this site I'll definitely fiddle with the taps to see if I can make it softer if not smaller. Are there any dealers out there who can drop in a few lines of knowledge? Much appreciated.
          Come on summer!!

For the 20i it appeared as though 2.0 - 2.5 was the optimum ski wake. 2.0 worked best for skiing slow (28-32mph) and 2.5 was the best setting for tournament speeds (32-36mph). Hulls are, of course, built by humans though so tiny variations may exist. I've poled a couple promo drivers and they have told me that they find the sweet spot (between 2 and 2.5) mark it on the gauge then set it and disconnect the pump the entire time they pull their event so that nothing changes. Might be a good starting point for you.

            Cheers,
            Bill

              "Toni's first event"

Well we put "Toni" the Tige' on the water to pull her first event yesterday. 6 and a half hours of constant passes split about half and half between slalom skiers (26-34mph) and wakeboarders running between 18 and 23mph. It was a big hit for the participants and a lot of fun for me proving one way or the other whether the hull would do what Tige' claims it will.

Verdict: It performed flawlessly. We spent and hour or so in open water making sure we had all the settings down. As it turned out my TAPS gauge doesn't drive all the way down so instead of 2.0-2.5 being ideal for slalom it ended up being 3.0-3.5

It was a lot of fun.

What was the water temp?? Our main lake is still at a chilly 45 degrees.

a naked Tige without a tower.........

j/k, glad that everything worked out well for you. That is why we all like ours also. From what I have seen, the TAPS gauge is different on every boat that I have been on from Tige so far. But, it is alway fun to find out what setting works great.

I think it was 56, but the wind was howling on practice day and just for good measure it rained through half the tournament. Some of these kids at the tournament are tough. I was in a full suit and they were shaming me in board shorts and a warm top.

Ya she's topless for now, but there will be a monster tower on it before long.

As far as the TAPS gauge goes I figured out why the numbers on the factory boat did not equal the numbers on this one. My gauge won't drive all the way down. That throws off my setting by a full number. Now that I know where slalom, trick and wakeboard settings are it is a much more manageable boat.

Is that a USA themed boat? Looks very nice.
You should be able to get the taps fixed I would think? I is electric or Hydraulic?

Yes the boat was inspired by my dedication to this country. Old glory still takes my breath away.

There isn't anything wrong with the TAPS plate, it's the gauge. The plate goes all the way down, but the gauge stops before it hits the bottom of the gauge. It should be an easy fix.

I believe the TAPS II system is based on a traditional Bennett trip tab.

We made good on our commitment to make this 20i all it can be. The tower went on Saturday. It was nice to have on Sunday for the girls to get their 1st starts of the season. Love having that high attach point.
